'I fell in love with this book. The writing was good enough to make me forget I had a phone, put it that way' Aisling Bea A novel for anyone who has loved and lost, and lived to tell the tale. As a young woman packs up her ex-boyfriends belongings and prepares to see him one last time, she wonders where it all went wrong, and whether it was ever right to begin with. Burdened with a broken heart, she asks herself the age-old question . . . is love really worth it? Out of Love is a bittersweet romance told in reverse. Beginning at the end of a relationship, each chapter takes us further back in time, weaving together an already unravelled tapestry, from tragic break-up to magical first kiss. In this dazzling debut Hazel Hayes performs a post-mortem on love, tenderly but unapologetically exploring every angle, from the heights of joy to the depths of grief, and all the madness and mundanity in between. This is a modern story with the heart of a classic: truthful, tragic and ultimately full of hope.

Fantastic read. My heart kept breaking. Starting with an event and then going back wards, took awhile to get used to but such an interesting approach!

This book was great but hard to get used to. A relationship is narrated from the end to beginning, so the structure is a bit confusing at first. Besides that, amazing read. Even more entertaining than the romance between Theo and “Angel” was the exploration of a parent‘s influence on their child‘s relationships and trauma. Learning about the MC‘s background and then connecting it with problems in her relationship was really eye opening.

Out of Love is a story of the relationship of an Irish woman and her boyfriend Theo, written in reverse, from breakup to the day they met. It was a clever idea, but the chapters were a little disjointed and I was not able to really care for the characters because the beginning is so depressing. Thanks Penguin Group and NetGalley for the opportunity.

I don't think the gimmick of a failed-love story told in reverse worked quite as well as I'd wanted, but this was often very compelling. Dudes are a real piece of work, aren't they?

My toddler is going through a sleep regression - which means I was up all night with disrupted sleep... The positive side is that I finished this gem 💎 Goodreads recommended this one to me and I hadn't previously heard of it - it turned out to be one of the best books of the year for me. It starts out with a relationship ending and works backwards in time to the origins of the relationship. So much I could relate to with this one.

“Out of Love” tells the story of a doomed relationship in reverse, from break-up to first kiss. This isn‘t your typical romance story but that probably made me enjoy it even more. I‘d definitely recommend you give it a try regardless of whether or not you‘re already a fan – 5 stars!
