My favourite book for June was The Woman Before Wallis #12booksof2023
so-soI didn‘t love it but definitely didn‘t hate it. I had mixed feelings about going back and forth with the timeline for some reason. I was more fascinated about the real people. (Especially the stepdaughter and stepson) good filler book.
pick4.5⭐️ While it was a bit slower than The Party Crasher, it was still a page turner for me. And yes these are the same Vanderbilts that Anderson Cooper is related to (his mom was dubbed the poor little rich girl at one point; Thelma wasn‘t a Vanderbilt, but her twin sister married one). I found the dual time frames, which were pretty close in time, quite effective. And I found Thelma to be an interesting person.

pickA good debut, looking forward to more from Turnbull but there were some things I would have liked explored more and some things she seemed to set up but not follow through with.
pickI LOVED this book! Historical fiction with some romance, scandal and family drama?? Yes please! Easy read and literally could have read a sequel or trilogy to this.
I just recently finished binging all the seasons of The Crown and I LOVED IT! When I saw this was on sale at Libro.fm I grabbed it. I‘m only 10% in and enjoying it but something today struck me so funny. The word scone. I was brought up to pronounce it “scawn” and I always thought that people who said “scown” where pretentious and snooty lol! I don‘t know how old I was when I found out it‘s just the one is Scottish and the other English. ⤵️
pickThis was good first attempt by Bryn Turnbull. She chose an interesting character with a plethora of experiences both in America and Europe. The novel describes the affair Thelma Furness had with Prince Edward (David) and her involvement with her sister‘s, Gloria Vanderbilt‘s, custody trial.
Reading this one now. Didn‘t expect it to be such a page-turner but it is turning out to be a pleasant surprise. About a third left to go
This book all began with a single request for a friend to watch the man she loves while she is gone. What transpired it's what we know to become a huge story. We meet Thelma Morgan and her twin sister Gloria Morgan the ups and downs these sisters suffer through is huge. Gloria lands the dashing Reginald Vanderbilt and Thelma falls for Viscount Duke Furness.

A captivating read into the Windsors, Vanderbilts and The Royal Family during the 1920-30's. Thelma Morgan lead a fairy tale life with the Prince of Wales before ending the affair to care for her twin after the devastating loss of her daughter little Gloria Vanderbilt. The novel of Thelma's life is well researched and intimate. For book and tv lovers of The Crown-it's a must read👑
