Thank you for this book @Reggie ! It was strange & wonderful and I need to read it again to be sure of everything that happened. But in a way that doesn‘t matter - I was so immersed in the feelings of these two young people, the interior of their heads, their dreams and fears, that what was precisely going on in the “real world” outside their heads wasn‘t important. Beautiful imagery and it took me back to being 13 in such a strange leap ⬇️

Reggie I‘m so glad you liked it. I just remember one of them calls the other a fish and when they‘re not friends anymore, and she is so sad she actually sees a fish with shiny scales walking down the street. I should read this again. And the boy with the baseball hat. How he scared me every time he appears. 2y

Really enjoyed the story and the writing style. Teen angst that's accurate rather than overwrought. Definitely looking forward to the other book I have from this author.

so-so

I sometimes worry because I generally enjoy most books I read... Maybe I just love reading for readings sake but I don't think that is it. I am also a part of 2 book clubs to get out of my comfort zone. But this one, I chose, and I'm just not sure. Something was missing and I've read a lot of reviews to try to make sense of it all but I'm sure I'm still missing something? What do you guys think?

Rang and b are friends who go to high school in an oceanside town. After a breakup of friendship, each of them is alone in their hard lives until they find each other again through Book. The writing is deceptive. It seems simple until you find yourself immersed in this tale of teenage ennui. Each scene transitions in and out of these dreamy surreal moments. I have never been more afraid of a baseball hat. Hurtful, but still a great, 132 pg pick!

Reggie @JanuarieTimewalker13 He‘s where I got the inspiration. I really enjoy his channel. I‘ve read a lot of horror this year and was thinking about doing something different for October. And I‘ve been lacking in translated works this year, so here we are. The rest of my October are books from his list. 4y

Reggie @Centique there‘s this short 2 page story written by Alice Walker where this little girl is walking through the woods on a beautiful spring day and at the end of the story she discovers a dead body. And the last line is ‘Spring was now over.‘ It had that kinda coming of age quality to it. (edited) 4y

I previously read Mina by this author, which had more of a body horror element as told through the lens of teenage angst. In b, Book, and Me the characters are younger, living in a seaside town that longs to be Seoul. Class difference, bullying, and friendships are explored from different points of view in an effective way. Still, something about Kim Sagwa's writing unsettles me, and hooks me from the start.
