So, the whirl world affairs of the rich and poor are entwined in ways for which the reader could never be prepared. The novel speaks to the political environment as relevant to the extents people will go for redemption and change.
pickI will say that this book is a lot more twisty than I initially thought. A period novel set in 1930‘s era Hanoi. A diverse group of characters led by Jessie Lesage and Marcele De Fabray, 2 women vying for title of most savage and fierce.
Newest additions....now to find a place on my overflowing bookshelves!
It seems like a good day to remind myself and everyone else that we have somewhere to go even when we cannot leave our homes. We can travel through a book. Stories have the power to take us on adventures, show us new worlds, build our empathy, teach us things, probe our emotions, and comfort us like an old, familiar friend.
The books pictured are all coming out in April. There are plenty of other April releases that we can look forward to, too!
pickYoyo and I had a reading marathon today. Once I got into this historical fiction about Vietnam in the 1930‘s, I couldn‘t put it down. Karin Tanabe does a good job of depicting the sense of place and time and I learned so much about French colonization in indochine. The conflict between the two main characters, Jessie and Marcelle, turned into intrigue and suspense that kept me turning the pages. Thank you for the ARC @StMartinsPress
#weeklyforecast but possibly my #monthlyforecast as I‘m having a hard time getting into Auntie Poldi. November Road is for the month long #botmbuddyread and I‘m knitting more right now and binge watching Married to Medicine. 🤩
