I enjoyed the break from heavy hitters with this delightful Children‘s murder mystery. Thank you @SassenachTheBookWizard for the recommendation on your YouTube. When the pupils of a small finishing school find their headmistress dead, they decide to keep quiet and carry on, but is that a safe decision with a murderer on the lose.

#GratefulReads -Day Eight - #BookAndBeverage Today I have a cold, so it‘s a fun easy read and a hot Vimto (black currant, grape and raspberry cordial) - so a book for children and a drink for children 🤧

I just loved this concept. Your head lady at your finishing school drops dead over dinner and you don't want to be slip up from the girls at your Finishing School because you love them so you cover up the murder while also investigating it and suddenly you have visitors at your place every hour and then someone dresses up as dead head lady. There wasn't really any huge laugh out loud moments but the overall tone and the characters were just so fun

#audiobookwalk on the glorious Fourth.

Aimeesue …and the ridiculously HOT Fourth. It is stupid hot out. If there aren't violent clashes between various protest and right wing Nazi groups in D.C. today, I will be very surprised. This is a recipe for disaster. 5mo
jillrhudy Oh I hope and pray not. 5mo
Aimeesue @jillrhudy Just got an flash flood warning on my phone, so there's going to be some rain today. That might dampen things enough to keep people at home, maybe? 5mo
jillrhudy It did rain, but the Faithful got to hear that inspiring and timeless story from His Nibs about how the revolutionary soldiers shut down the airports. 5mo
Aimeesue @jillrhudy 😂😂😂 He's such an idiot. 5mo

I ran out of steam on Flavia several books ago. But here is another book narrated by Jane Entwhistle 😊

#bestof2017 Honorable Mention
This upper middle grade/YA historical fiction is full of characters that you love to hate. I enjoyed it very much.

I feel like I should should start this off by saying I would never of read this if it wasn't for a book club, it just isn't something I thought sounded interesting. And I was right, the book just wasn't for me. I found it extremely slow and unrealistic.

This is a solid book for middle school aged people. I liked the female characters and that it highlighted intelligence, logic, and resourcefulness. The mystery was well done for the age group it's intended for. Not quite as engaging as The Westing Game but definitely worth a read if you have a young person who likes mysteries. It does get off to a slow start but it's worth it.

Looking for some good books to buy and put in my LFL. A kids Victorian era murder mystery with 7 girls who are "not proper" being sent to a boarding school to become ladies-but sounds like they rebel from that course. Sign me up ??

I couldn't resist that title. It is a middle grade book, so expect it to read like one. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun!

Part comedy of errors, part Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery, fully enjoyable.

Narration by Jayne Entwistle brings the story vividly to life.
