In Montmartre: Picasso, Matisse and the Birth of Modernist Art | 
pickI decided to throw in a nonfiction read about art. I found this one to be a very good read if you're not a well read art nonfiction reader. Plenty of information. I perhaps loved this read due to the fact I've seen many of these artists works and have visited some of the locations that were inspirational for these people.
so-soI wanted to like this more but got bogged down by all the details. Otherwise it was informative of the artists and era.
pickI really liked this. It's about the art scene in Paris during the first decade of the 1900s. It talks about Picasso and Matisse but also a ton of my other favorites like Modigliani, Rousseau, Marie Laurencin, Braque, and others like the Steins, Alice B Tolkas, and Daghliev and the Ballets Russes. If you're into art, this gets my recommendation. 💖📚🎨🇫🇷
I'm visiting a friend in Canberra this weekend. This morning we went to the Matisse and Picasso exhibition at the National Gallery. I had to buy a copy of the tagged book in the gift shop - it is about them and other artists in Paris between 1900 and 1910. The Matisse painting is for the #Catherbuddyread group - an example of the art she was emulating in The Professor's House. And the cute little poodle is my friend's dog Dash.
Two recs. Missed a day.
1- Non-fiction. Sue Roe. For readers who love art history, literature history, how artists create.
2- a great mystery series set in India. Tarquin Hall created a wonderful set of characters.

bailedI kept trying to get back into this — but after several weeks of reading a little at a time, calling this a bail. It‘s not badly written. May be just wrong timing or that there wasn‘t enough new (to me) info to grip me 🤷🏻♀️ .
It‘s all right— lots of boomerang kids turn out just fine 😅 !

I hit the Fine Arts Museum of Montreal today. You can always find something nice to add to your to read pile.
