The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor
The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor | Robert Kirkman, Jay Bonansinga
Winner of the 2011 Diamond Gem Award for Trade Book of the Year In the Walking Dead universe, there is no greater villain than The Governor. The despot who runs the walled-off town of Woodbury, he has his own sick sense of justice: whether it's forcing prisoners to battle zombies in an arena for the townspeople's amusement, or chopping off the appendages of those who cross him. The Governor was voted "Villain of the Year" by Wizard magazine the year he debuted, and his story arc was the most controversial in the history of the Walking Dead comic book series. Now, for the first time, fans of The Walking Dead will discover how The Governor became the man he is, and what drove him to such extremes.

It's a zombie kind of night. Watching some season 4 TWD. 🧟‍♀️

+21 points #scarathlon #teamhendrix @StayCurious

Reggie Sometimes I just find myself watching the one about Carol and Maggie where they get taken hostage by a Negan group of women. And Carol and Maggie kill them all. I‘ll just put it on repeat sometimes. 3y
Traci1 @Reggie I always think about that episode when I'm watching hallmark christmas movies and one comes on with Alicia Witt. I'd never seen her in anything before TWD, so I always associate her with that one. 3y

I'm a sucker for all things zombie 🧟‍♂️

1. This is a hard one. I'm going with the tagged book and the next few in that series. They get weaker as they go along, but the first 3 are excellent.
2. I may be in the minority here, but I loved World War Z. I love both the movie and the book, though they are totally different. I could watch the movie over and over though.
3. Warm Bodies, Girl with All the Gifts

TheNeverendingTBR I love the series but I've never actually read The Walking Dead graphic novels, does the series follow the graphic novels? 3y
TheNeverendingTBR I never liked the World War Z book, the style of writing wasn't my kind of thing; I'd have liked the movie better if it was slow zombies! 🧟‍♀️ 3y
TheNeverendingTBR I'll take your recommendations into consideration, thanks for playing along! 💫 3y

Traci1 @TheNeverendingTBR the show is similar to the graphic novels, but there are some major plot shifts. The tagged book is actually a novel offshoot of the graphics. It deals specifically with how the governor came to be who he was and the story of Woodbury and its inhabitants. 3y
Traci1 @TheNeverendingTBR i liked the audiobook of WWZ more than the physical book. It was a full cast (and an excellent cast) audio, and it fit the format of the book so well. It was like a radio interview show sort of. 3y
KateReadsYA I've never read a zombie book 🙃 I know shocking haha. But I am so glad for this post because because now I have added both your recommendations to my reading list. Thank You! 3y
Traci1 @KateReadsYA I hope you enjoy them! 🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️ 3y

Six more episodes of TWD today. I hated comic Carol, but (after a whiny first couple seasons) show Carol rocks.

Thank you to @Traci1 for reminding me about these books. I found the first three on audio through my library and downloaded them all.

This story starts in the first days of the plague. The Governor and his young daughter are traveling with friends looking for a safe place. I really enjoyed this book and loved the backstory and the different perspective it offered.

Traci1 Glad you liked it. I'm listening to the last one (last so far at least) right now. 4y

Part way through, hooked. Got the books for my birthday. Although I think certain things are happening in different orders. Definitely worth a read especially if you love the walking dead
