Sunday afternoon read.

HBO is premiering #HisDarkMaterials soon and while I don‘t have HBO, it‘s definitely going to be on my To Watch list! (Shout out to my parents who don‘t know I‘ll be requesting access to their HBO account in the near future!)

A decade ago, I finished reading the trilogy of His Dark Materials. I loved the universe, the characters, and how there is just no dark and white. Every character is deep, complexed. I did read the books again, and I find tiny little details that I didn't notice at first.. Very few fantasy novels give me such thrill again. So when I stumbled upon this book, same author, same universe and same characters, of course, I said yes.
Did you ?

Loved this bit of Lyra‘s world!

A much better, more interesting and entertaining read than Lyra's Oxford!

I really loved learning the details about how Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison met, along with other little details about his rifle, Hester, etc.!

Next read!

Looooving this cover, it's just a shame the book itself is quite flimsy/cheap feeling!

Another great short story set in the world of His Dark Materials. This one featured the first meeting of some of my favourite characters, Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison.
Similar to Lyra‘s Oxford, this book featured lots of little added extras and some beautiful little illustrations.

Lee Scorsby back story. I really enjoyed this. I love the whole Dark Materials series as a matter of fact.

It was lovely to dip my toes back into Philip Pullman's magnificent world so like our own, even if it was only a 2-hour short story. It makes me want to reread all of His Dark Materials though...it's been a good ten years or so...

mllemay I'm in the process of rereading them (very slowly) and I'm enjoying them even more than the first time. They're just such good stories! 3y
SGJ Been that long for me, too. Might have to try this one out. 3y

Snaps to the Arlington Library e-Audiobooks, saving me from insomnia! Listening to this wee short story about characters from His Dark Materials.
