After the momentous good news (SEASON 2!!!) I finally broke down and ordered this! š¨

It's honestly so much more beautiful than I was expecting! Other tv companions I've gotten over the years were thin, flimsy cash grabs. Not so here! š Hardcover, over 300 pages, and filled from cover to cover with beautiful illustrations, photographs, and so much information! I can't wait to really dive in! š’•š“š’•

So, I actually watched the tv series before listening to this book. In my defense I started the show without knowing it was a book beforehand and I can‘t resist David Tennant š¨. The book was everything I hoped and dreamed it was. It was the same as the show but of course with more details. Definitely one of my favorite reads. There was sass, friendship, danger, love, and comedy. What more could you ask for?

GingerAntics @TobeyTheScavengerMonk when I first saw that scene, I half wondered if David somehow had a hand to play in that role, because it‘s so him. I guess in an informal way, it is him. I agree with Gaiman, not every actor could pull off that scene without it just being campy. 5y

SOOOOOO many tears in the first chapter and still 14 pages left. I didn‘t expect to cry so much during this first chapter after the pure joy of the show (or while not PMSing). Someone is clearly cutting a crate of onions somewhere near by. That must be it.

GingerAntics @Karisa I heard before that Gaiman made a cameo appearance somewhere. Then I read very recently (probably in the tagged book) that both Gaiman and Pratchett filmed a scene with both of them as police officers before Terry died. So I‘m really keeping an eye out for police officers this second time round. (edited) 5y

That is a total deal.
This is really how I approach all adaptations which frequently gets me in trouble with other die hard fans. That‘s not to say I enjoy or even like every adaptation, I just seem to be more open to changes and differences than a lot of other people.

I finally found his cameo which is actually amazingly funny, seeing that he doesn‘t say a word and all you see is the back of his curly head. š’™š’™š’™ 5y

GingerAntics @Branwen I dunno, I quite like MMMBop, especially the String Theory version. That‘s what I did. After my second trip through without seeing him I was rather frustrated and pretty sure I was looking in the wrong places. I tried googling it, but nothing came up. Then someone told me one of our friends found him, so I asked her. Give it one more trip through. If you need help after that I‘ll gladly tell you. 5y
