Wealthy businessman, Gabriel Bishop, rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he'll go after it no-holds-barred. And what he wants is Charlotte Baird. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, Charlotte just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO clearly has other plans.

I treated myself after voting and getting my flu shot to a new Kindle with a pretty cover! I actually prefer reading ebooks because the experience is so clean and customizable. I‘m really enjoying the touch features (my old Kindle has button navigation) and the dictionary function. I‘m also enjoying this romance by Nalini Singh. ☺️👏

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐of 5 ⭐s

I liked this A LOT more than the first book, mostly because I prefer slow-burn romances that don't sacrifice any scorching-hot chemistry between the protagonists, and this novel does precisely that. The female protagonist has a history of abuse and PTSD, so trigger warnings for that, but I thought it was handled quite well. Rugby knowledge useful, but not necessary ;).

And....Rock Courtship intersects in time with this & there are hints throughout so, clearly, I read this as well. Really enjoyed it but the main male characters in the series are starting to feel quite familiar, she‘s repeating similar mannerisms & physicality‘s. I‘m a die hard Singh fan but I‘m not obsessed with this series (but I will read the rest, I know this!!). It‘s a still a good read but maybe leave some time between books in the series?

This was wonderful, though it's definitely not a breezy read. The heroine survived an horrific experience that left her with deep scars and dozens of triggers, and the hero is careful to recognize what they are and avoid them. When he gets frustrated with the necessarily slow pace of their relationship, it's always clear that's HIS problem, not hers, and it's one he's gonna handle without laying pressure on her. 👇

xicanti I loved the heroine, too. She's a super competent person and a devoted baker--two qualities I love in a character. And to top it off, the whole thing's set in my beloved Auckland, and it has the sense of place I found missing from ROCK ADDICTION. #romantsy 6y

I planned to switch to comics while I ate my leftover wonton soup (made with leftover taco-spiced tofu, which is every bit as tasty a wonton filling as I imagined), but I can't tear myself away from ROCK HARD. This hero is heaps better than the one in the last book! My only complaint is I wish Singh had made it immediately clear he's mad at the man who hurt Charlotte, not at Charlotte for fearing men. #LitsyPartyofOne #romantsy

Ugh, snow, whyyyyyy.

This is miles away from my ideal reading weather. I need it to be warm enough that I can spend time outside without undue discomfort, and with a book in hand. #LitsyPartyofOne

Jinjer Where does one live to have snow in November? I need to move there. Will be near 80 this week here in #Arkansas 6y
xicanti @Jinjer I'm in the middle of Canada, and while I don't know Fahrenheit I'm guessing 80 is WAY more my scene than this. 6y
Johanna414 @Jinjer Western New York! I live in the Buffalo area and we've had major snowstorms in October... our first snow this year was 11/1. Want to trade? 6y

WarpedSweetness According to my phone, it is supposed to be snowing outside. I haven't looked, and I don't want to. 6y
xicanti @WarpedSweetness solid plan. The first morning it snowed here, I swore a lot and closed the blinds so I at least wouldn't have to see it. 6y
WarpedSweetness @xicanti Luckily for me my fiancee likes to live in a darkened house like a vampire. So all my blinds are already closed. I will swear a lot too if I see it snowing. 6y
Jinjer @xicanti @Johanna414 Yes!!! I will trade places with both of you! I hate the sun. 6y

Just hangin' around in the sorta-dark, reading a kiwi contemporary romance. I've always listened to Singh before this, but I pounced on my library's electronic copy with this one because I know the narrator's accent work (or lack thereof) will annoy me no end otherwise. #LitsyPartyofOne #romantsy

I was approved for an ARC of Nalini Singh's contemporary coming out next month. Reading it immediately. #romantsy

It's not on Litsy yet, so tagged the book featuring the hero's brother.

LibrarianJen I‘ve only read her psy-changling series. 7y

Still in the mood for fluff apparently, but it's February now so it's festive or something.

Each book in this series is better than the previous. Charlotte was sexually assaulted in college - she has shut down. As a PA for a new CEO who sees the strong woman inside her, she continues to heal. A great story, sweet romance, and some steamy lovin. Now it's time to play with the pup 🐶#romantsy
