Pantsdrunk: The Path to Finnish Zen | Miska Rantanen
7 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Pntsdrunk is a refreshing take on the personal-development genre. In Finland there is a special word - 'kalsariknni' - to denote 'drinking at home, alone, in your underwear'. It is no coincidence Finland consistently rates in the top five in happiness ranking. In Finland, Pntsdrunk is considered a path to recovery and self-empowerment to help you face your future challenges, much like the 'lagom' or 'hygge' of their other Scandi neighbours. The Pntsdrunk method also includes bingeing on Netflix, scrolling mindlessly on your phone, sweet and salty snacks, sofa time, and blocking all work communications. It will lead you to a healthier, more energising and relaxing life - wherever, whenever.

1. Sometimes
2. Tagged! Thanks to the By the Book podcast for bringing it to my attention.
3. Sometimes it‘s helpful to get a different perspective on a knotty problem.

MatchlessMarie Read this one recently. I also really like Dana K White‘s decluttering books but this one is especially helpful if you struggle with executive function 3y
TiredLibrarian @MatchlessMarie Would you believe I had that checked out from the library and lost it? #fail 😕 3y
BookmarkTavern Love the title for 2! Thanks for sharing! 3y
MatchlessMarie @TiredLibrarian I originally checked it out 4 years ago and kept rechecking it out periodically but I finally ended up reading it this year. 3y
TiredLibrarian @MatchlessMarie I'm glad I'm not the only one! 3y

Pickpick

After a hard day of wearing your ‘game face‘ in public, what better way to relax than stripping off the confines of your street wear, a relaxing drink (alcohol or not) and doing nothing - that is nothing but what pleases you, read a book, watch a comforting movie or favourite sporting highlights or cats on YouTube - just be yourself, sing, shout or cry - let it all out and be ready and refreshed for what the next day brings. #NFN2020 #Book

After a throughly rubbish day I need this book. Our lockdown ends on 2nd December, but my area is to be put under the highest restrictions after that, so still unable to meet up with any friends for the foreseeable future ☹️

TrishB We‘ve actually gone down a tier!! Feels like we‘re all in some version of the hunger games.... 3y
charl08 Still 3. Seems worse because I assumed we'd be with Liverpool! 3y
veritysalter We live in South Yorks (T3), the kids go to school in West (T3) and Roo works in North (T2). There seems to be very little rhyme or reason as to why an area is in which Tier; plus all the nonsense about the “Christmas Break”, my head hurts with it. If most are going to be added to the highest tier, what was the point of lockdown? Why are shops, hairdressers, schools and universities safe, but a cup of tea in my mum‘s garden not? @TrishB @charl08 (edited) 3y

Pickpick

Pick for the concept, not for the book. This book was 99% filler - trying to capitalize on the world‘s newfound obsession with Hygge but the Finnish response to it doesn‘t warrant a whole book.

Time for a #weeklyforecast - looking forward to spending more time with Päntsdrunk and re-reading The Bookish Life of Nina Hill for #girlybookclub and maybe getting into Sometimes I Lie, if I‘m lucky.

Ahh, December - the month I start off thinking I‘ll have so much time for reading and then hardly finish anything. Well, I‘m not letting that stop my overly ambition #DecemberTBR. Lots leftover from November, four more books in my never ending quest to #ReadMyOwnDamnBooks, my #GirlyBookClub book, the #agathachristieclubr2 book and a couple that I just really want to pick up!

Nute I never get much reading completed once the holidays begin. I just celebrate whatever happens. I like the fact that you remain optimistic!😊 4y

Recent acquisitions. Sometimes I look at the books that interest me and think “man, what a weirdo” and then I‘m happy 🥰
