Started off pretty interesting, had me gripped for a bit. Then it just went off and became something less exciting and more eye roll inducing. Just felt like a nothing burger book that tried to be a huge conspiracy, but ended up falling flat.

The beginning of the book was awesome! It was so creepy & scary and I loved it. I liked the darkness in this book and I wanted to continue reading even though this was quite slow.
This was unbelievable predictable and that was a big disappointment. Well there was a tiny turn of events that I hadn't guessed but everything went like I thought in the big picture. I still liked the ending scene.

Finally finished Pig Island. A quite different story with some positive features. Just found it a tad disappointing after the other books I read from her which I loved. Like something a bit different and strange. This may well be the book for you, but I can only give it a so so.
10th book finished for #JumpStart2022

The next book in our #ChristmasBuddyReadathon starts today, all welcome to join, reading at your own pace. Buckle up as this one is termed ‘terrifying‘.

Journalist Joe Oakes goes to Craignish, a remote Scottish Island, to visit a secretive religious community where a strange creature is caught briefly on film. What he discoverers forces him to question the nature of evil. This is a very dark and disturbing thriller and not for the feign of heart. I have read all of her Jake Caffery series and thoroughly enjoyed them. I was sad to hear of her death this year as she will be greatly missed for sure.
A thrilling mystery mixed with a dash of horror? At first I wasn't sure, but my opinion quickly changed to, "Yes, please!" As always, Mo Hayder is brutal, pushes the boundaries, & even made me look away from the pages in disgust once. I stayed up late several nights reading this book at supersonic speed, & the ending did not disappoint. Read closely, & you'll even catch a pinch of the supernatural at the very end, making the climax even better!

Ugh, it's only Wednesday? How am I going to have the energy to get through the rest of this week when I have no time, but my book is so good? #bookishproblems
