Pickpick

Arsene Lupin is a masterful thief, he is extremely intelligent, analytical , master of disguises and loves over the top dramatics. Basically he is the French counterpart of Sherlock Holmes (or as LeBlanc calls him in other chapters, Herlock Sholmes 😂 ). He is mostly a one man operation, no Watson here. Although his nemesis Ganimard and love interest Miss Nelly do appear in a few stories.

sudi Even Sherlock Holmes makes a cameo at the end. The book contains nine chapters following Lupin‘s adventures. Most of the stories have twists so ridiculous that you can‘t help but laugh. It‘s a fun light read, probably ideal after you‘ve read a really sad book. My favorites were The Escape of Arsene Lupin, The Mysterious Traveller and the The Queen‘s Necklace. 3w
Tanisha_A This sounds super fun! Also, Herlock Sholmes. 🤣 3w
sudi @Tanisha_A i think Doyle(or his lawyers) might not wanted him to use Sherlock's name. Hence we get the genius Herlock Sholmes 😆, LeBlanc is almost as daring as Lupin. 3w

Mehso-so

Lupin is a criminal who often moonlights as a detective. A little zany and predictable for my taste but definitely a good pick if you want light, summer reading. Also, Sherlock Holmes makes an appearance in the final story, which makes for an interesting comparison between French and English values and perceptions.

I purchased this book from a vintage shop on Etsy. Not going to lie, I bought it because of the map endpapers. I love that it has annotations sprinkled throughout. And of course, I had to sniff it. #bookmail

Added three volumes to #serialreader filled with the adventures of Arsène Lupin, the beloved French gentleman burglar and master of disguise. Follow along as he swipes treasures, evades the law, and even tangled with a certain English detective (whose name was oh so cleverly changed to Herlock Sholmes to avoid copyright issues)

Libby1 Oo! How exciting! Maybe I‘ll look into this after I finish The Faerie Queene. 2y
Libby1 Hello! I was wondering if you could tell me if it‘s possible that other books in The Faerie Queene will be on Serial Reader. I finished the 19 issues earlier today and thought I‘d finished the whole thing! I was dismayed to see I‘d read Book 1 of 6! Also, it might be helpful if the description of the serial explained that this was the first part of a longer work. Thank you! (edited) 2y
SerialReader @Libby1 ack! Sorry about that. I‘ll add the remaining books as soon as I can 2y

aniket.barik I love the app. I wonder if the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit might be added some day. 2y
SerialReader @aniket.barik Thanks! I don‘t have the rights to distribute those books unfortunately, but maybe one day! (edited) 2y
aniket.barik @SerialReader Ah, it's okay. It certainly has a lot more than I will be able to read anyway. Thanks for the amazing app. :) 2y
