Historical fiction written for young readers, published in 1953. Brightly was a burro who lived and worked in the canyon from 1892-1922, and helped build the first suspension bridge over the Colorado River from North Rim to South Rim. Great illustrations!

Happy almost Birthday @LibrarianRyan I hope you have an amazing day. When I was little I read every book by Marguerite Henry that I could find. It‘s the first time I remember being obsessed by an author. My fav Litten not part of the 6-digit club is @Foragingfantasy because she was the 1st person to show me the incredible kindness of Litsy. Sometimes you just have to share.I hiked the canyon as a Girl Scout, made it just fine but it felt like that.
😄
Pleasant, if somewhat dated, tale of Brighty the Burro's adventures in the Grand Canyon. Wesley Dennis' illustrations are a delight.
