Lovely little read that I read originally after @RachelO review!

Cinfhen Will I hate it??? I don‘t really like cutesy 😉 5y
rockpools Ooh, good choice! I could totally go with painting a map on a wall. And @cinfhen - I really don‘t know! I was surprised I enjoyed it, didn‘t find it over-mushy. Not sure if I‘d call it cutesy 🤔... maybe! 5y
KarenUK Definitely stacking this one.... sounds lovely 💕 5y
TrishB @Cinfhen I don‘t like cutesy or soppy, I would say this was a nice gentle read! 5y

Fun, quirky tale of a dysfunctional family. Uplifting and happy - not something I read often!
Thanks to @RachelO who‘s great review made me buy it (and 99p on kindle!)

MommyOfTwo Oh boy, I though my eyes were getting worse for a second. I had to do a double take to make sure it was the picture lol 6y
rockpools Glad you enjoyed it. 😘 I wasn't *quite* sure it'd be a Trish book! How are you doing? 6y
TrishB @MommyOfTwo sorry - zoomed in to much!! 😁 6y

TrishB @RachelO it was just the right side of sentimental and not too soppy! Doing ok- trying to remember I‘m off to rest. How are you? Hope everything‘s going as it should and you‘re having plenty of rest too 😘 6y
rockpools @TrishB Yes, REST! Or I'll send the nurse that read me the riot act round (she made some very valid points, somewhat forcefully. But she did succeed in making me rest. After I'd been back for the umpteenth time because things weren't healing quick enough 😬.) As of Monday-just-gone, I'm officially done. 😁Taking a couple of weeks to enjoy ☀️⛵️ before I think about heading back to work. 6y
TrishB @RachelO that‘s fantastic news 👍🏻 enjoy your break before the work world reappears!! 6y

I loved the switching of view of this book - like hopping around the branches of a wonderful and quirky family tree, peaking in to the nests and feeling the knots of the lives of this family. A wonderful story based in, ultimately, understanding our weaknesses as people and not accepting the limitations put on us by others. Imaginative and moving, all the characters support and compliment each other beautifully. And a perfect ending.

A unexpected gem of a book, which I read with a big daft grin on my face. I absolutely loved it!

Tilly is a statistician. To understand the collapse of her marriage, she writes a report. With footnotes.

Violet is in her mid-20s, alone & effectively housebound. She starts exploring the world via a borrowed typewriter. She will become Tilly's grandmother.

Around these two unconventional, inconvenient women grow a chaotic family of characters - 👇

rockpools quirky, believable (mostly!), warm and beautiful. And an oddball collection of inanimate but characterful objects. Also 🐶.

Thank you #netgalley for the chance to read this in exchange for an honest review. #TheMapOfUs is one of my surprise favourites of the year, and is out on Saturday

rockpools @Cathythoughts @Soubhiville Thanks 😊. The advantage of living in hilly towns - the flower beds are often above your head! 6y
saresmoore What a stunning picture! 6y
TrishB Great review 👍🏻 so I went on Amazon of course and it‘s 99p on kindle pre-order 😁😁 6y
rockpools @TrishB Oops. 😉 6y
TrishB New kindle = new 99p offers 😁 6y
KateFulfordAuthor If you like this style.... If you need another recommendation, may I point you to my People‘s Book Prize nominated debut? Sassy female narrative, laugh out dialogue and a pacy plot. Check the link in the bio for 2 free chapters, reviews and more. 6y

A little about the book I‘m reading ⬆️
I‘m enjoying it so far. I‘m a little under a 3rd of the way through. I like the characters but I‘d like them to be explored a bit better. So I hope we go further in depth. I‘m enjoying the story too. I can just marine Violet sat in her wheelchair, typing away and dreaming of far off lands. The POV changes quite a lot but not too much! I‘ll review properly when I‘m finished 😊
