Song of the Quarkbeast
Song of the Quarkbeast | Jasper Fforde
14 posts | 42 read | 12 to read
Magic has been in a sad state in the Ununited Kingdom for years, but now it s finally on the rise, and boneheaded King Snodd IV knows it. If he succeeds at his plot, the very future of magic will be at risk! Sensible sixteen-year-old Jennifer Strange, acting manager of Kazam Mystical Arts Management and itsunpredictable crew of sorcerers, has little chance against the king and his cronies but there s no way Kazam will let go of the noble powers of magic without a fight. A suspenseful, satirical story of Quarkbeasts, trolls, and wizidrical crackle!"

This sequel of #TheLastDragonslayer is superb. In this book will be a magical contest of two houses of wizards. The outcome of this contest needs to change the relationship to #magic. I don't for a moment regretted that decided to read this series of books! I recommend to anyone who wants to escape from everyday worries and dive into the world of magic!

Buechersuechtling Thanks for your review that unfolded to me in what order to read the books. 🙇🏽‍♀️ 5y
Erofan @Buechersuechtling If it's not possible, you can read the second book separately - the plot is self-contained! But to understand the references to the first book and to feel the fullness fictional universe, I recommend to start with the first book! 😉 5y
Buechersuechtling @Erofan Thank you for sustaining me with all that helpful information. 🤗 (I just made a screenshot 📸 ofyour review to have it available during my next browsing through the library.) (edited) 5y

"It is," I replied, not far behind him. "Call 999 and mutter 'Quarkbeast' in a panicky voice."

This was just as good as the first one. I feel like I am starting to understand the affection that Jennifer has for the residents of Kazam. I still want a Quarkbeast as a pet and having a Transient Moose wouldn't be too terrible either.

Jasper Fforde did it again with this fun follow up to The Last Dragonslayer. What is nice is this book is an adventure in itself, so while reading the first book is helpful, one could read this without too much confusion. I liked this equally to the first one with good character growth. Fun and funny.
