A hero's tournament. A defiant contender. Does one girl have the courage to take on Mount Olympus? Hope's world doesn't have room for heroes. She barely has time for schoolwork, swim team, and taking care of her ailing mother. But when she's invited to a mysterious tournament, the all-powerful hosts won't take no for an answer. Transported to Mount Olympus, Hope comes face to face with her new trainers--the pantheon of Greek gods. While other contenders train hard to gain a fighting edge, Hope searches for a way out. Instead, she finds a gorgeous shadow god who may just convince her to stay... As each round unfolds, the ultimate prize draws closer--the granting of her heart's deepest desire. If she survives the final challenge, her mother's cure would be within reach... but only if Hope can ignore the tournament's dark purpose. Olympian Challenger is the first book in a bold YA urban fantasy trilogy. If you like Greek mythology, forbidden romance, and feats of courage, then you'll love Astrid Arditi's heroic coming-of-age tale.

The Hunger Games with a Greek myth twist. Challengers must survive trials to gain a wish from the gods and the potential to be a hero. Hope is no Katniss, but this is still a fun and enjoyable read.

erzascarletbookgasm I think I‘ve signed up for two quarters only. Don‘t want to be too ambitious, knowing how bad I am in doing these challenges. 6y

BarbaraBB I am reading two each month so will have to finish the feminist and POC author. But I will. It is so much fun! 6y
Simona 👏👏👏Looks like very nice selection. 6y

alisiakae @RealLifeReading I have 4 prompts in my spreadsheet for you: Ghost (olympic sport), One Crazy Summer (POC - I just picked one of the two you read), Size 12 is Not Fat (Body Positive), and Mr Loverman (unconventional). Is that all of them? 6y
alisiakae @BarbaraBB I am also reading two a month! Or trying to. 😃 6y
alisiakae @KarenUK I am starting my cozy today...an Agatha Christie. 6y
KarenUK @4thhouseontheleft oooh hadn‘t thought of using an Agatha.... good idea! @BarbaraBB I‘m doing 2 a month too 👍😊 6y
Cinfhen My goal was two a month but I was able to read 4 in January @KarenUK @4thhouseontheleft so now I‘m ahead of myself....my big challenge in the upcoming quarter will be the #Steampunk 🙄😬 6y
Reviewsbylola Crappppp, now there‘s even more pressure to finish on time. 😂 6y
Chrissyreadit Wow! This looks so inspiring! 6y
Nitpickyabouttrains @Cinfhen if I read something from the April-June quarter before the end of the month, can I count it? (I don‘t mean for your raffle, I just mean in general) 6y
Cinfhen Yes!!! And it counts for the raffle as well @Nitpickyabouttrains ~ you can read out of quarter/season whatever...the only “rule” one book per prompt for a raffle entry counts [so you could technically have 8 books read this quarter and only 2 next quarter....] 6y
RealLifeReading @4thhouseontheleft aha yes that sounds right! Thanks! @Cinfhen I also had unconventional romance 😘 6y
Cinfhen So glad @4thhouseontheleft had it all squared away @RealLifeReading 🙌🏻💕 6y
RealLifeReading @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft guess I have to work on those two prompts! 6y

Entertaining tale that uses Greek mythology as the basis of a tournament. Strong female character who didn‘t slip into the trope of mistaking being a brat or obnoxious for being strong. Rating: 4/5

I received a free ARC from the author and I am voluntarily giving an honest review.
