One of my goals for 2021 is acquiring the entire Nancy Drew series (the original 56) because it was my favorite series as a kid. I remember reading the yellow and blue hardcovers and begging for the next set every time I saw it at Costco. According to wiki there are 174+ books, but I‘ll start with the OG set of 56 this year. 2nd part of my goal is to thrift most of the books otherwise it‘s bye bye money 💸 Anyone else obsessed with Ms. Nancy Drew?

Drnkpnkprincess @Victoriahoperose it‘s been a goal for a while- but I keep buying other books, so instead of an all out book buying ban I decided my purchases need to be methodical, lol. Sweet Valley High series was good too! Maybe that will be next year‘s goal... 3y

#BookMail today included the last 2 #NancyDrew books I needed for my collection that will one day be Kaysen's. I had close to all of them at one point, then a box was lost during a move and was back down to maybe 20 of the 64. I slowly started buying them one to two at a time over the past couple of years. Today the last two came in and I now have a complete set! Now, to work on #DearAmerica some more and then #HardyBoys 😊 #RaisingReaders

Caterina What a lovely gift for your daughter!! You're planting ideas in my head for someday. Although I've never read Nancy Drew, I loved the Dear America books, and for a couple years my favorite book, which I read again and again, was a Picture of Freedom, the diary of a Clotee, a slave girl. She was so passionate about learning to read and write, and I found her so relatable! 7y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @Caterina I loved the Nancy Drew series and to this day I love a good mystery and trying to figure it out before the reveal. The Dear America books definitely sparked a huge interest in history and I had a few favourites, but I want to collect them all for her and I want to read the ones I was never able to. They are not always easy to find in great condition, but some people on here were very kind in helping me add to my collection 😊 7y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @quirkyreader I never read any of those, so I honestly don't know. If Kaysen wants to try them after she finishes these, I am down for trying them with her. I think I even have one paperback of those later books, but I know I haven't read it. Are they good? 7y

quirkyreader They were ok. Just a continuation of the series 80's style. There was one that featured a UFO. And there were plenty of team up books with the Hardy Boys. 7y

I visited the local library to take photos of the books I've read to have something to publish with the reviews on Litsy. It was a trip through the memory lane. I found so many books I've read and loved through my early years as a bookworm. Nancy Drews were one of the original reasons I fell in love with reading.
