Alice Oswald ❤

Two of my library reservations came in! 😄
I only read Woods earlier this year but I already need to read it again.
And look: there are woods on the cover of Hild, too.
Here's my (slightly belated) reading wrap-up for January. The tagged book was my favourite of the month.
I seriously need to start prioritising my own books over library books. 😱
I've long thought that poetry is my mind's native language; even so, it's a while since I've found a poetry collection as compelling as this. In much "nature writing", even, the natural world largely functions as a backdrop for human concerns. Alice Oswald recognises and gives voice to its intrinsic power and agency. Seeing through her eyes is a startling and energising experience. This book is thrilling!

I wonder what Wordsworth would think of this.
I do enjoy it when poets strike up a "conversation" with each other in this way.
In related news, I rejoined the Poetry Book Society today.

This book keeps saying to me, "You know nothing. You have seen nothing." And I am all rapt attention. ?
"O God the featherer" ?
Dear Alice Oswald, why oh why have I not read you before now?!
Also, happy Thanksgiving to the American Littens: it's just Thursday here (UK) but I'm grateful to have found and to feel part of the wonderful community that is Litsy. ?
