A remarkably civilised way to start the day, and I have learned something new already. Somehow the scholastic attribution of the play ‘Edward III‘ to Shakespeare had completely passed me by. #johnjuliusnorwich #shakespeareskings #book #currentlyreading #books #bookstagram #shakespeare #history #booksandcoffee #coffeeandbooks #caffeine #caffeineaddict #wakeupandsmellthecoffee #wakeupandsmellthecoffin

When I think of #royals in literature, my mind immediately goes to Shakespeare's plays about the incredibly dysfunctional kings of England. It doesn't hurt that recent BBC adaptations include these amazing actors: Benedict Cumberbatch as Richard III, Tom Hiddleston as Henry V, and Jeremy Irons as Henry IV. #readjanuary #day18 #BlameBenedict #Cumberbatched

mom2bugnbee @Katianna I have a serious problem. And I share it with my 14yo, which might be a bit creepy, but he's closer to my age than hers, so... 7y
Read.Em.And.Eat I don't think it's creepy at all! He is a fantastic actor and has proven time and time again that he's also a wonderful human being - which sadly is not always the case. 7y

#Royals #ReadJanuary I mentioned the War of the Roses in a comment recently and for anyone interested in Royals behaving badly this is a good starting point. Viscount Norwich is a detailed and enjoyable historian and this book covers the English Kings of Shakespeare‘s histories from Richard II through to Richard III and provides an overview of the politics, the bloodlines and the precedents which lead to the chaos of the period.

Good book looking at the real history versus the plays. You could probably do several books on the subject. #Shakeapeare
