"In a gentle way, I will shake the world." This easy-to-read but powerful Biographical picture book is a part of the New York Times bestselling biographical series, and is perfect for RA and S, especially when teaching children about famous peaceful influencers. Ghandi is a great person to talk about when discussing non-violent resistance and civil disobedience to protest discrimination, a topic that is still relevant in today's society.

jvinas2 ESOL strategies 3 & 28 are perfect while use multiple biographies of people similar to Ghandi (MLK) to help encourage positive thinking; UDL guidelines 3.1-3.3 help readers learn more about Ghandi as well. This link is an amazing resource for the book, as it has activities and worksheets that touch on Ghandi's most influential moments and actions: 6y

Pickpick

I Am Gandhi by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by a Christopher Eliopoulos is a wonderful and extremely informational RA biography about the peaceful revolution of Gandhi. The book contains the story of Gandhi along with real photos and a sequenced timeline so students have a better understanding of what occurred. Attached is the books official website: http://www.ordinarypeoplechangetheworld.com/gandhi.php

KarinaGuillen This website contains additional resources and fun facts about Mahatma Gandhi for further research of his life. UDL strategy 6.3 Facilitate managing information and resources and EL strategy 28. Provide biographies of significant men and women from different countries can be utilized well with this book. Juliemorell I'm so glad you wrote a review on this book! I just read "I am Jane Goodall" and absolutely loved it. I have a feeling that this entire series by Brad Meltzer will definitely be in my classroom library. He takes a whole different approach on biographies- in a way that makes it more interesting for kids! Love the EL strategy you used by the way, it works perfectly! 7y
DrSpalding You two making text to text connections makes me happy! The ordinary people resource is phenomenal. The timeline they provide could easily be used in a classroom on an interactive whiteboard to lay the foundation for when this individual lived and would highlight his historical significance. Excellent alignment as well. 7y
amandagrant Meltzer's "Ordinary People Change the World' series is one of my favorites. Your EL strategy is perfect! I can definitely see myself using these in my classroom 7y

I was SO EXCITED to meet Brad Meltzer this past Thursday! He was touring for the latest books in his “I am” series for kids (they are Wonderful), and he‘s just as warm, funny, sincere, handsome, and smart as you‘d hope. The kids in my life are getting one of these books for Christmas (but I‘m keeping the signed copies for myself)! #authorcrush #whyismyfacealwaysred #proofthatileavethehouse #alsowhyimsopoor

[DELETED] 3803335244 Sorry @LauraBrook not book related but I think your the person that was interested in genealogy on 1 of my post. Wanted to let you know thanks to a letter I found out today, I have a grandfather that fought in the Seige of Londonderry in Ireland in 1669. It was cool. Thought I'd share, since you like ancestor history. Are you on Goodreads? 7y
