A friend took up painting during one of Melbourne‘s many lockdowns - and I was the lucky recipient of this one - the lesser known (as it‘s in the hands of a private owner) version of VVG‘s sunflowers… maybe there are some advantages to having a December birthday… I think I‘ve found the perfect spot for it - but TBD!

#WanderingJune Day 5: This #SmallTownBoy met the outcast but insanely talented Van Gogh. Despite being shunned by everyone else in the small town, it appeared that Van Gogh found some measure of acceptance in Camille‘s family whom he took great pleasure in painting. Van Gogh‘s evident love for bright colours made Camille call him the “Sunflower Man.” My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-j2L

BarbaraBB Great post! I work for the Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands where Camille is quite popular in educational materials for kids but I didn‘t know this cool fact! 🌻🌻 5y

An excellent nonfiction story about a small snippet of Van Gogh's life and some of the people he painted. A great supplemental book to give insight and personality into Van Gogh's history for younger kids & pairs great with a study of his painting Sunflowers. This is not a complete biography and wouldn't be a good resource for sharing about Van Gogh without supplemental readings or additional conversations to his life.

JaclynW I love Van Gogh! 5y
IamIamIam How fun!!! I read this in college and was quite impressed with his life. My kids would be interested in this! 5y
TheBookKeepers @IamIamIam it was great! My son is studying Van Gogh right now and we‘ve done a lot of biographies and picture studies, so I was thrilled to find this additional gem! 5y

monalyisha Oh hey! I‘m using this for a library class visit soon! In March, we‘re focusing on picture book biographies about artists; this one made the list. 🙌🏻 5y
TheBookKeepers @monalyisha That‘s awesome!! It‘s definitely not a complete biography but gives insight behind his Sunflowers painting! An excellent picture book that has a more complete bio of him I‘d also recommend is (edited) 5y
