arlenefinnigan Read that when I was younger, had a good chuckle at the news article quote that was something like "they may look clean cut but there is whiskey in their cola". Did anyone ever actually think John Lennon was 'clean cut'?! 6y

#HeyJune #day1 #HeyJude Kicking off this month of Beatlemania with what I think is the best book written about the Fab Four. You could fill a whole bookcase at least with books written about the Beatles, as a band & individually, but most are sugar coated fan based. This book told them as they were, flawed men who weren‘t gods after all, but still with the magic that made millions around the world enthralled. Their songs were the 60s distilled.šˇ¶

The song 'Fame ' features on the 'Young Americans' album released by Bowie in 1975. This was a complete turnaround in sound and look with David moving to a Philadelphia soul influenced sound and a smarter, less glam image - The Thin White Duke era. The album contains the song involving John Lennon - 'Fame' which he co-wrote with Bowie and Carlos Alomar. š‘‡

TrishB Also a cover of The Beatles 'Across The Universe ' which was written by Lennon later appeared on the 'Let It Be ' album.

TrishB The song 'Fame' and album 'Young Americans' are notable for featuring Luther Vandross and Robin Clark on backing vocals. Indeed , Bowie was instrumental in Vandross getting signed to a solo career thanks to his outstanding vocals on the Young Americans album.
