I'm kind of a wreck today. Our cat, Riley, who we've had for over 14 years is very sick. He has hyperthyroidism, which we successfully banished 2 years ago with radioiodine treatment, but his kidneys are failing. Barring a miracle, we will probably be saying goodbye to him tonight. I'm so not ready, but we don't want him to suffer. Pic is from earlier this month, he went downhill so fast. As much as this sucks, he has been the best cat ever.

Bookwitchery I'm so sorry. We lost our 16yo Max last August so I know how hard that decision is to make. I missed two days of work because I just couldn't stop crying. Much love to you and your furbaby. 8y

MidnightBookGirl *improve. We brought him home, with meds and an IV bag. He still seems pretty out of it, but his bloodwork was better. However, we don't want him to suffer. We'll see how he is come Monday. I don't have much hope for a miracle, but I'm grateful for a chance to say goodbye. 8y

Bookwitchery I understand. That was our thing. The vet offered surgery, but at Max's age it was questionable if he could survive anesthesia ( He had cancer.) Our bottom line was we didn't want him to suffer. Here's praying for a miracle, or, barring that, he crosses the rainbow bridge peacefully and without pain. I am tearing up as I write this. Please know I send you lots of love and light. ❤💔 8y
