A terrifying serial killer thriller staring Detective Robert Hunter - in the bestselling tradition of Jeffery Deaver and Richard Montanari Inside a Los Angeles church, on the altar steps, lies the blood-soaked, decapitated body of a priest. Carefully positioned, legs stretched out, arms crossed over the chest, the most horrifying thing of all is that the priest's head has been replaced by that of a dog. Later, the forensic team discover that, on the victim's chest, the figure 3 has been scrawled in blood. At first, Detective Robert Hunter believes that this is a ritualistic killing. But as more bodies surface, he is forced to reassess. All the victims died in the way they feared the most. Their worst nightmares have literally come true. But how could the killer have known? And what links these apparently random victims? Hunter finds himself on the trail of an elusive and sadistic killer, somone who apparently has the power to read his victims' minds. Someone who can sense what scares his victims the most. Someone who will stop at nothing to achieve his twisted aim. Praise for THE CRUCIFIX KILLER: 'A gripping debut ... Not for the squeamish' Heat 'A page turner' Express

The kids are home early from school due to wind/snow drifting... So I think I'll break from chores a bit early to enjoy a warm drink and get started on this

The Robert Hunter books written by Chris Carter are usually #Gory in places. Have to say, though, I love them. Robert is such a great character and a brilliant detective.

Chris Carter is a very gruesome writer, but it doesn‘t really put me off reading his books. Every chapter ends with a mini cliffhanger.
For some reason I felt a bit of sympathy for the murderer in this book.
Not for the faint hearted ♥️

If you don't mind gritty books, this is an excellent crime series. A good group of characters has been pulled together, and a very interesting main character in Robert Hunter. The author also gets the reader fully involved in the story by leaving plenty of clues. Originally I thought I had the killer identified but towards the end I realised it wasn't him but the clues were all out there. I thoroughly recommend this series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

TrishB I've read number 1 and have number 6 on the tbr pile - I just need to work on 2-5 now! 2y
Andrew65 @TrishB I am working through them as Group Reads. So far read books 1 and 2, I hope to get to The Hunter (a novella) soon which I think is a prelude to the series. Book 3 is targeted for July. 2y

Started The Executioner by Chris Carter for a Group Read I am leading. Hope it is as good as the first one, The Crucifix Killer, which was a cracking read and one of my favourites from last year.

Chris Carter er bare god! Det er spænding, uhygge og rædsel fra første til sidste side. Varm anbefaling herfra ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
