This was such a good historical gothic romance. The pacing was fast, and had a great swoon worthy slow burn romance. I loved the Victorian London setting and the MC Darcie, the love interest Dr Damien Cole was 😍. Only issue is the amount of inner dialogue, though at times it added to the suspense and mystery so not overly bothered. Loved how the ending played out and the HEA. Perfect book for fans of Stalking Jack The Ripper!!

One of my current read! I've been wanting to read this, so I'm excited to finally start it!!!

It wasn't bad. It was dark and gothic like advertised. My only real issue is how dense the MC could be at times. It annoys me when an otherwise intelligent character is made to look pretty clueless for no reason. #kindle #darkromance #gothicromance #historicalromance

Gothic romance/mystery-light set against Jack the Ripper. The heroine is penniless but scrappy and ends up working as a maid in a secretive anatomist's house. She ends up using her artistic talents to help with his research, but is he The Ripper? Will they fall in love? Occasionally confusing plot, and poor communication abounds, but overall ok.

I have fallen in nothing short of absolute love for this author. This book is excellently gothic, fans of Jane Eyre and Northanger Abby as favorite books should just add this one to the TBR. I bought the next two and a recommendation of hers. So, so good. I can't possibly say more good things about it.

This was a good read. Nothing outstandingly great but had lots of dark atmosphere and mysterious goings-on. I had already figured out how it would play out by the end. I'm going to continue with the next in series since I own it from years ago but haven't read it. It's a 5-book series, but they each stand alone. #romantsy #osrbc

When I posted a review of Penelope a few days ago, someone commented that the dress didn't look Regency at all. That's true, and I also realized that the cover photo was nearly identical to another book on my Kindle. Here's what I mean. Except for the hair and dress colors, I don't see much difference.

My first ever Gothic romance. It was as dramatic as I thought it would be, with every character either mysterious or cryptic. It got too bogged down in over-examining every detail and it slowed down the book and reduced the tension too much. The killer was pretty obvious, and the heroine's mistrust of the Doc at times seemed a little baffling. Still, the vibe was fun even if it's not a style of romance I'll read often. #romansty #osrbc
