A quick MG re-telling of the Snow White story. It was cute, and I‘ll likely read more in the series (Book 1 of the series #SeriesLove2024). The main character is a spunky, logical pre-teen girl, going on 30. 🤣.

When Abby & Jonah move to a new town, they get sucked into Snow White‘s fairy tale just in time to save her from her evil stepmom. But now how will she be able to get her happily ever after? Will a prince come and save her or will Snow White save him? Is the prince even the happily ever after Snow is looking for?
This quick #middlegrade audio was good for my commute. Next up in #audio: Beezus and Ramona.

IMDb.com Snow White 1987. Here‘s a tale of a modern-day brother and sister who get sucked through a basement mirror and end up at the cottage of Snow White and the Dwarves, complete with incarnations of the evil stepmom (there‘s a trope @Klou ). Abby, the sister, is the narrator and hilarious 😆 as they try to save Snow and the prince, and get back to their bedrooms before their parents find out

TheAromaofBooks Quite the fairy tale binge you are on! 4y
Eggs @TheAromaofBooks That was fun! 4y
Klou That is a trope! Hadn't even thought of that one! 4y

Silly spin on the Snow White fairy tale. I like the twist at the end involving Snow and the prince. There are sandwich-eating crocodiles, a genius horse, and some of the dwarves are ladies. A fun quick read.

Eleanor and I have started a book swap club. I get to pick a book for her to read, then she picks one for me. I got her to read Carol Ryrie Brink's Baby Island yesterday, so I get this one today. It's pretty fun so far! With The Voice on in the background bc I can't handle the quiet when Noel's out and the kids are in bed. 🙂

annamae My students love this series! 7y
howjessicareads @annamae - it was really fun! I see why she blazed through this series so fast. 🙂 7y

Eleanor says this is one of the BEST BOOKS EVER. She wants me to read it next. I'm thinking maybe I'll use it as leverage to read one of the books I've been trying to get her to read! (Nancy Drew or LHOP...) 🙂 Mother Daughter Book-Swap Club?

Cinfhen My son wanted to discuss Flowers for Algernon or The Alchemist, I had to humbly admit, I've yet to read either😞😬🙄 7y
howjessicareads - the things I have to look forward to! 7y
Cinfhen I told him, I'm going to try to incorporate both books into my #yearofmagicalreadingchallenges ?He shrugged his shoulders and said "whatever" clearly, he was NOT impressed ??? 7y

Frantically requesting things from the library for my voracious little reader. Anyone have ideas for a 6yo who reads at the 4th grade level, and who doesn't like mysteries or historical fiction?

ScientistSam What about Roald Dahl? Chronicles of Narnia (your reader may be a bit young for the themes but I remember my parents reading them to me and then I started reading them myself when I was six or seven)? Encyclopedia Brown? 7y
howjessicareads @ScientistSam - Roald Dahl has been a moderate hit! Encyclopedia Brown was dismissed. 😝 Maybe I will try Narnia! 7y

These series are each fun in their own way. My daughter and I have enjoyed them. #photoadaynov16 #FairytaleRetellings

Jengil_1 Aaaahhhhh!! So I just finished Cinder!! Noooooooo, is there a second part?? I was about one chapter from the end, which is why I didn't like it, I had a kindle version and didn't realize it was drawing to a close.. 7y
CogsOfEncouragement Scarlet is next in the Lunar Chronicles series. I liked that one too. I have not read farther than that but plan to. There is also a stand alone by the same author titled Heartless that I am looking forward to. 7y
