I probably never would have heard of, or read this book, if it wasn't for my family. My grandmother discovered years ago that we were related to Cynthia Ann Parker and she's urged me to read this book for years. Although I won't say the writing is spectacular, it is a solid historical fiction with some basis in the truth that kept me intrigued and entertained.
pickI just finished this book and it was really good. I learned a lot about the Comanche way of life and about how they were eventually they wiped out. It was based on a true story and I think that is what kept me so interested in it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
pickThis took me awhile to read... longer than it should have. I'm thinking because it was so painful to read. It is a very powerful story of Cynthia Ann Parker and the ending of the Native American way of life in Texas. It's hard to say I loved the book because of the sadness of the story but I did. Wish sometimes our history had different endings.

This is a terrific read about #historicalheroine Cynthia Ann Parker. I've done a lot of research on the Parkers having heard as a young girl that my Parker side of the family were related. As a lifelong genealogist I set out to prove it true or false. Turns out we are related to Quanah Parker not by blood but by marriage in a most convoluted way. So probably not what the family had expected. #feistyfeb
