so-soHaving never read work from or set in Russia, I found these novellas quite interesting, albeit disturbing. I can‘t say that I enjoyed them – they aren‘t the type of story you are supposed to like – but I appreciate them for what they are: a brutally honest look at everyday life in Communist Russia. I found the writing style a bit difficult to follow, hence the So-So. That said, I‘d be interested in reading more from Petrushevskay #NewYearWhoDis
After an evening spent studying bioterrorism, I‘m moving on to some cheery Russian short stories 😸
Also noticed there are zero reviews for this book. Perhaps a Petrushevskaya #buddyread needs to happen. Anyone?
Part one of my Black Friday #bookhaul from #bookoutlet arrived today. There was no concealing the box. Was so happy to score these middle-grade graphic memoirs and more Edith Wharton. Also have been dying to read all of Petrushevskaya‘s works so was happy with her memoir and book of novellas. #russia
