Selected Poetry | John Keats
13 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
John Keats's abiding poetic legacy is one of the extraordinary and triumphant richness. This selection, chosen from the Oxford Authors critical edition of Keats's major works, demonstrates the remarkable growth in maturity of his verse, from early poems such as `Imitation of Spenser' to later work such as `The Eve of St Agnes' and the famous Odes.

I know I've mentioned Fable before, but I finally decided to make my own book club. I love the active clubs, but I couldn't find one for poetry. It was also difficult finding any that focuses on poetry. Check out the club!

We're starting with Keats and will do a modern poet next. My plan is to switch between classic and contemporary poets.

@shakespearience has come up with a lovely #575PMRChallenge - all about poetry!! Be sure to check out her page for more details on the challenge categories. I'm not a huge poetry reader myself, but may try to complete at least one of the columns. April is Poetry Month, so that is when this challenge kicks off!

bibliobard Have you tried reading verse/nonprose books? I wasn‘t a big fan of poetry either but my school librarian introduced them to me. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Shakespearience - I have read a couple but haven't really sought them out in the past. But that may be a good focus for this challenge!! 4y

While I don't know if it counts as #spinetinglingpoetry, the last few stanzas of Keats's "La Belle Dame sans Merci" take a decidedly creepy turn. The whole poem is available here via the Poetry Foundation. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/resources/learning/core-poems/detail/44475 #AllHallowsRead
