I think we all know how I‘ll be spending my Friday night after I finish this book 😎 🎥 🍿

I love love love the movie Pan‘s Labyrinth and this book is such a great behind-the-scenes! It‘s so interesting looking at the early sketches of those iconic creatures. Ps has anyone seen The Shape of Water?? I‘m so intrigued...

shaynarae So cool! I saw The Shape of Water earlier this week. It definitely has the same vibe as Pan‘s Labyrinth, but The Shape of Water didn‘t seem as rich of a story, nor was it as dark. 6y
Expandingbookshelf @shaynarae that‘s kind of a bummer. Although I couldn‘t picture it actually being better than Pan‘s Labyrinth 6y
BilboBookends WHAT?! This book looks incredible!!! 6y
shaynarae @Expandingbookshelf I‘d be interested in hearing what you think about The Shape of Water. I love Pan‘s Labyrinth, but haven‘t watched it in a long time because recalling how intense it is always keeps me from hitting play. So that is definitely coloring my comparison of the two movies. It‘d be nice to hear a more updated perspective. 6y

This was tough! And I could very well second guess all my choices and post another #5movies later 🤗

But here's 5 that I ❤, and would never say no to watching:
❤ Back to the Future (all of them, even #3)
❤ Four Weddings and a Funeral
❤ Monty Python and the Holy Grail
❤ Pan's Labyrinth
❤ Before Sunset

merelybookish Four Weddings and Before Sunset are faves, too. Actually my whole list could consist of romantic comedies/ Indies from the 90s. 7y
Bostonmomx2 👍👍 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Oh well done! Love them all but the Before films and Pan's Labyrinth especially. 7y
TheKidUpstairs @merelybookish @TobeyTheScavengerMonk Have you seen Before Midnight? I haven't had a chance yet, does it live up to Before Sunset? I liked Before Sunrise, but LOVED Before Sunset. 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk They all make a perfect trilogy but when they fight in Before Midnight it's hard to watch because we know and love them so much. 7y
merelybookish Yes, Before Midnight is well done at portraying a married couple's relationship, which of course is more complicated than falling in love or reconnecting. There's less romance, more reality. 7y
Mamashep Every male in my house owns his own copy of Holy Grail! 7y

This is a wonderful accompaniment to one of my favourite movies, giving plenty of behind the scenes info and detail about the directors artistic and visual journey, and the development of the mythic storytelling that makes Pan's Labrynth such an outstanding modern fable
