#LittensLoveRomance Ch.13-14: Okay. Fresh day. Fresh outlook. I will read these chapters without getting annoyed at these characters….ugh. Never mind. Liam left because he felt like he couldn‘t follow his dreams? How were Josie and his friends holding him back? Because they had certain expectations for him? I think a lot would have helped if he‘d just talked to them about what he was feeling. ⬇️

StayCurious And Josie getting so mad at Noah for talking to Liam - yeah, that‘s only going to make him more angry when he discovers the truth. I‘m not feeling romantic heartsey vibes from this book but I‘m still interested in how things will play out. Should I be? 17h

LiseWorks I'm waiting for something to happen. I got the feeling that his leaving was because of his parents. Something happened there because he doesn't even want to go see them. And I am so upset with Josie. Why did she get so mad at her son? 15h

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.11-12: Still don‘t care for Liam. Until I‘m told otherwise, it seems like he was tired of his charmed life & decided a change was needed. I hate that the people in his life became burdens & were expendable. Even if his parents forced his hand there was a better way to break free. But - Josie can‘t keep Liam and Noah apart unless she gets a handle on what they both want. It‘s not just about her-It needs to be most about Noah

LiseWorks I always feel sorry for the man when they find out they have a kid they didn't know about. I still say there really had to be a good reason for Liam to want to disappear like that. 2d

OriginalCyn620 I do think Josie needs to have a conversation with Noah. It would be so much worse if he finds out the truth from someone else! It doesn‘t seem like that possibility has occurred to her. 2d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.9-10: nuh-no Liam. You don‘t get to act broken hearted. You decided to leave. You made the choice to go. Granted you didn‘t know about Noah but you did know about Josie. So don‘t play the martyr. And Josie: you can‘t NOT tell Noah. He deserves to know who his dad is. Both these characters are irksome.

TheSpineView Liam is acting like a spoiled child. He got his cake with ice too, I might add, and he is complaining he didn't pie! F'in A!!! He made his bed now he has to lay in it 3d

CrowCAH Especially since HE changed his phone number, HE could have reached out to her. I get where she‘s coming from wanting to keep the status quo by not telling Noah, but he‘s at an age where he can figure things out or make his own decisions about Liam‘s character. 2d

Roary47 While the characters are annoying me. I‘m enjoying the ride so far. Still curious why he left. I don‘t think he would have left the only people he cares about. He doesn‘t seem to like the fame at all. He‘s an ogre with layers. 2d

OriginalCyn620 I agree with you all! I too want to know what happened that made Liam leave. And not just leave, but also why he cut everyone out of his life. That‘s the part that‘s bugging me. I‘m guessing his dad had to do with the leaving part, and it better be pretty bad, because then maybe we can justify his behavior! 2d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.7-8: Hm, I‘m seeing some red flags with Nick for sure. I don‘t like the way he manhandled Josie. Was that the first time or is it a regular occurrence? Do we think Liam was lying when he said he wouldn‘t care if Josie had moved on but seeing that it‘s with Nick pissed him off? I think he would have cared either way. Things are going to get very complicated.

OriginalCyn620 I didn‘t like Nick doing that to her either. Nor did I like Liam getting all pissy that she‘s with Nick now. He has no right to be! It‘s early on, but right now, I kinda want Josie to kick them both to the curb. 😂 4d

CrowCAH I didn‘t like Nick‘s physical reaction. Uncalled for. I think we‘d all like to think we‘d be okay seeing our true love/ex with someone else, but really we‘d be envious of their situation. And even a bit mad that they didn‘t wait for a love reunion. 3d

LiseWorks There is no way that I would be able to be with Nick. Manhandling her like that really turned me off. I think Liam might know how Nick is, and of course, they seemed to have not liked each other in high-school, therefore the jealous reaction from both was obvious. 3d

Roary47 I am on team kick Nick to the curb. Now that Liam knows about Noah he might want him in his life. I‘m glad that the wife of his friend who passed is inclusive. There has to be more there in his leaving. I can‘t see that he would leave them all when he was so happy without a good reason. 3d

Do you think she should have tried harder to tell him about his son or did the fact that he changed his number make it clear that he had moved on? If he would‘ve stayed, would he have even been able to go to college with a baby on the way? Would their lives have been very different? I think he would have grown to resent her for holding him back. He seems like that type.

CrowCAH I agree, he would still have felt trapped, even if he knew about the baby. It‘s why he left, he wanted to pursue his passion and it wasn‘t the traditional house, wife, and baby story. Sometimes men have to do some growing up before they realize what‘s important. 5d

LiseWorks And I'm on Liam's team here. Do we really know why he left? No! Something must have happened for him to leave everything, and until I know what it is, I'm sticking with him. Don't tell me that a famous guy like that could not have been reached. She knew what he was doing if he was famous. 5d

Read4life We are definitely missing key info. Liam says early on that he left the only girl he ever loved and she had a miscarriage two months later. Would he have made different choices if he knew he had a child? Mason‘s wife leaving a place for him, in my opinion, shows she knows how deep Mason‘s love for Liam went & that Liam wouldn‘t let him go without that final goodbye. 5d

willaful @Read4life The passage is a bit confusing but I think the miscarriage was his manager, not Josie. It's not clear whether he ever knew Josie was pregnant but I suspect not. 5d

My thought is him leaving has something to do with him. I hope he can be accepted with his friend group again (not that I like his choices at the moment). I‘m glad that she left a spot to carry his friend. That is a great compassion move. 5d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.1. We meet Liam, who‘s definitely not coming across as a great guy. I sure hope he grows on us. But of course he should. This is a romance novel after all and we‘re supposed to like the lead. He‘s about to face his past at the most painful moment when everyone is already raw and emotional. ⬇️

StayCurious Ch.2. Uh oh - Our female protagonist is already in a relationship. I kind of hate that. I mean, in reality, you don‘t think she‘d wait for the guy who walked away and broke her heart. But the romantic in me doesn‘t want a love triangle. I don‘t like that trope. But we‘ll see what happens - it might turn out ok. 7d

She meets Isis, the white witch that Alice ran to after her experiences in the dark with Selina. Isis gives Eve a warning and also invites her to their next gathering. Eve and Roarke visit Selina‘s club and speak to Lobar, who confirms her and Alban, her companion‘s, alibi. ⬇️

StayCurious Lobar then winds up dead practically on Eve‘s front lawn. Eve is pissed that she brought evil to their doorstep. She & Roarke also discover Alice‘s brother Jamie has managed to sneak in and he was the one who discovered the body. He claims to have seen other rituals that involved his sister. He wants revenge for her death. Eve tries to keep his involvement quiet. Eve is still warned by her commander to keep Feeney in the dark- this is not easy 7d

LiseWorks This one is right up my alley as I like books that deal with witches. I love how skeptical Eve is , Roarke and Peabody are doing the "it doesn't hurt to cover the bases" bit. 7d

TheAromaofBooks I know in Roberts's romance/romantic suspense she isn't afraid to use supernatural elements, so I'm really interested to see if there is a “science/logic“ answer or if there actually is some black magic at work here. 7d

While there, Eve meets the man‘s granddaughter Alice who asks Eve for a clandestine meeting. Eve is also tasked by her commander to look into the death of the cop which may not have been an accident. In fact, he might have been into something shady. Eve is put in a really tough spot wherein she has to hide things from Feeney. ⬇️

StayCurious When Eve meets Alice, she hears a horrible story of a youthful foray into Wicca and the dark arts and she hears about an evil witch named Selena Cross. Alice claims Selena is guilty of murder and that she saw a child being killed. Before Eve can look into things further, Alice is struck by a cab - but was it really an accident? What‘s interesting about this one is we know the culprit behind what‘s going on. Eve just has to prove it. (edited) 2w

Sace I didn‘t think the romantic element took away from her feminist power as I felt that there was a lot of mutual respect between her and Emerson. I thought the mystery was fine. I plan to continue with the series. 3w

CogsOfEncouragement I really enjoyed this, and do plan to continue with the series. I thought the way Amelia wouldn‘t admit to us that she was becoming very fond of Emerson but we could tell anyway, was a fun way to write this. To me, they make a good couple of mutual love and respect. 3w

CogsOfEncouragement I didn‘t predict the ending, mostly I didn‘t give Alberto enough credit to be a part of anything and had dismissed him completely earlier in the story. 3w

DGRachel I think Amelia would have the same/similar feminist opinions. Inheriting a fortune gave her freedom to pursue her desires on her terms. I adore her and Emerson. 3w

DGRachel I‘m not sure why there was such a surge in Egyptological interest in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, but IMO the artifacts belong to Egypt and should be returned. 3w

CarolynM I think it‘s her upbringing, particularly her education (even though it was informal) that developed her personality, but that was only possible because her father was rich. Inheriting his fortune then enabled her to make her own choices. Her feminism is a large part of her attraction for Emerson, he‘s not interested in taking away her power. 3w

TheAromaofBooks I loved rereading this one and am planning to work my way back through the rest of the series as well. Amelia and Emerson are a favorite couple of mine - there is so much respect between them for each other's strengths, intelligence, ideas, etc. So often the “strong female“ character means the man ends up being someone who just nods and goes along/is always wrong, but I love how Emerson is also stubborn, loud, and sometimes right as well 😂 3w

willaful This was a fav when I was young and it was fun to revisit it. I never did finish the series--I felt it got too repetitious--and I'm stunned it got up to 20 books! (Though apparently Peters went back in the chronology a lot at the end, probably so her characters wouldn't get too elderly.)

It would be interesting to see an Amelia without money, because she's so fierce, it's hard not to believe she would have pulled off an independent life somehow. 3w

#LittensLoveRomance: Ch.29-30: how brave Eve is to trust Ethan! That‘s so great and big of her. The better they start off on this rocky road the smoother it‘ll become. And what a birthing experience! I‘m guessing she didn‘t go for the epidural - silly silly woman. Review ⬇️

StayCurious I truly enjoyed this book. The characters were so likeable and they really worked on their flaws. The author worked on this book while she was pregnant with both of her sons and the experiences really seem so real. the conversations were honest and raw and made me feel all the feelings. I almost wished for an epilogue though - just to catch a glimpse of where they get to. (edited) 3w

#IDLR: Ch:16-20: Eve is determined to find her killer and she‘s determined to have that killer be Jess Barrow. True, he‘s a prick who delves too deeply into her and Roarke‘s minds and played games with her and the people she loves - but does that make him a killer? Mira doesn‘t think so and Eve decides to seek a second opinion (how awkward) from Rhianna. But just as she gets the go ahead from Whitney, Eve realizes Rhianna is behind it all. ⬇️

StayCurious Was anyone surprised by this? I was thinking it was both her and William so that was a bit of a surprise, and to think she had no idea about the effects of her experiments on her victims‘ brains. I found this was a very fascinating concept - mind control and the power of suggestion- aren‘t we already seeing hints of that today with advertisers listening in on our conversations through our phones (creepy). ⬇️ (edited) 3w

StayCurious To think what can come of VR gaming in just a few years is a bit worrisome.

This book places an emphasis on Eve, but we also caught glimpses of Roarke‘s darkness and what he does to keep it at bay. I also liked the strengthening of bonds in this book - btw Eve and Peabody, Roarke and Feeney and Roarke and Mavis. I look forward to more of this relationship building in future books. 3w

Librarybelle I had started to get a little suspicious of Reeanna when the case against Jesse fell apart. It was a good red herring! She just seemed too eager to help. What a scary concept - Roberts/Robb wrote a really good thriller!! 3w

ShananigansReads I knew Jess was sus when after we first met him Eve and Roarke lost their minds in the car but he didn't seem like he could pull it all off. It took a bit longer to become suspicious of Rhianna but I blamed her right before Eve realized it. This was such a good installment and so scary.when you think of real life implications. I hope this stays on the pages of books but you never know. 3w

TheAromaofBooks I really love our five chapter/week pace because it means when we get to the final five chapters I can just blaze right through to the end 😂 This one got really intense. With a long-standing series like this, the author keeps introducing various secondary characters so at first I thought Rhianna may be one of those. But when the case against Jess started to fall apart, she seemed a little too convenient. I really liked how this book felt more ⬇ 3w

I‘m glad Melody and Jane made up - even though I still don‘t like Melody. I hold a grudge longer than Jane apparently. Too bad Livingston escaped to America. I would have liked him to have gotten his comeuppance.⬇️

Too bad she runs into that jerk Buffington on the way. I can‘t believe he stands up for Livingston and lies about Jane‘s honour. He and Livingston can go to where the sun doesn‘t shine. How will she get out of this scrape she finds herself in?

Librarybelle I feel so bad for Jane - she‘s a doormat in every situation, and I was so angry how things got twisted to be her fault, or at least have escalated because of accusations that she‘s the one making “eyes” at the men. Ugh! 😑 3w

First the sketches of Jane by Vincent and the revelation that she‘s his muse (oh my!) and then we find out who Melody‘s lover is. We also see that Jane is getting stronger in her glamour powers - she‘s a rare talent to only have to read instructions to be able to do it so quickly.

Read4life I was relieved that they had a real talk. I think they both needed to talk and listen to each other. It seemed like they were making assumptions about each other‘s feelings, behaviors, etc because they have known each other so well for so long. 4w

CogsOfEncouragement Willa sharing about her miscarriage added so much to being able to understand her, and I don‘t fault her for not telling. When people know, they have “helpful” questions/comments and it is too much. Eve admitting to herself that, yeah, she often doesn‘t even know what she wants seems like a really good thing to now know about herself and way overdue. To know yourself, how you generally operate makes life better. 4w

Hello #Pemberlittens friends! I‘ve made the difficult decision to end our #JaneAdjacent buddy reads starting in May. Or at least to end my role in hosting them. I‘ve found recently that I‘ve overcommitted myself on Litsy and in real life and I need to step back. I love that she had a little saviour in that old lady. Eve needs to open herself up to the possibility of Shep and be honest with him about what she‘s feeling. It‘s obvious he‘s feeling something too. Friends are not usually so cozy cozy. And now she thinks she loooooooves him - that‘s a big deal⬇️

Ch.11-15: Still convinced there is a connection between the suicides, Eve is even more certain once she comes face to face with a woman who kills herself right in front of her. Eve knows this woman was somehow coerced and begins to worry that it‘s a VR unit that Roarke manufactured that is the culprit. But how can such a thing be possible? ⬇️

StayCurious When she asks Roarke he has no idea if it can be done but insists he didn‘t do this. So who did? At Mavis‘ big party, Roarke gets coerced into hurting Eve, something he would never do in his right mind - it rings too true to the suicides. Eve realizes it was Jess and his music console that were behind what happened to Roarke. And both she and Roarke want blood. We don‘t know exactly what Roarke does to Jess behind closed doors. ⬇️ 4w

I was lucky enough in Canada to have 14 months off - with 6 months paid from my work (which I know is amazing). But the rest of the time with a chunk of my salary gone and having to afford formula and diapers and everything else - it was a lot. 4w

julesG If you're employed (not self-employed or a freelance) you get a year of maternity leave and you still get your salary every month (the company will be recompensed). I could enjoy this perk with child #2. 4w

Roary47 For all three of my pregnancies I had a leave bank I earned. I was able to be paid for about 4-5 weeks with the bank (varied with each) and then could still take more with FMLA, but because I didn‘t have hours in the bank I wouldn‘t be paid. I just took the minimum required amount of 6 weeks. Pregnancy feels slow, but it goes so fast for others. I want to think that Ethan is figuring out things or working extra hours to provide her funds. 4w

Mostly because it wasn't something for the baby but rather for her. If it wasn't for the Gf, he would be right there. As for Shep, he needs to share those feelings with her. 1mo

CogsOfEncouragement Ohhhh, this difficult situation has me empathizing with all these characters. I‘ve been getting the vibe that Shep cares about Eve as a close family friend. I had a friend who was close with her brother, and in turn the brother was always really nice to me because of that. Never any other feelings about it. I‘m not sure Shep feels romantically towards Eve…YET. Rooting for it though. 1mo

I hate that her friendship with Willa has become strained. It hurts my heart. But I do love me some Shep. What an adorable guy.

I wonder what the age difference is between them. Melody seems very young. I think Dunkirk is definitely looking for an accomplished bride. Someone to make his home a happy one - or so he hopes. I get the impression that his and his sister‘s upbringing wasn‘t happy.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.3-4: I used this meme but really, Shep was so great while Eve was crying all over him-What a great friend! He knew exactly what to say. Poor Eve: what a blow to find out the guy who knocked you up is in a serious and complicated relationship. I really felt for Eve, thinking she‘s not going to get a happy ending at all. I mean yes, she hardly knows Ethan, but she‘s not wrong in hoping there might have been something there⬇️

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR: Ch.6-10: Eve continues working the case and starts to wonder if there is a connection between Fitzhugh and Mathias, and another apparent suicide of a senator. The cases don‘t seem to have anything in common but Eve senses something in her gut and can‘t turn away.⬇️

StayCurious We meet Jess Barrow who clearly wants Roarke to invest in his musical toy. There‘s also an allusion to him being able to control the actions of Eve and Roarke, make them turned on so they can‘t keep their hands off each other. Creepy. And then he doctors a demo disk of Mavis and is that the reason Eve tumbles into another nightmare?We find out that Mathias and the senator also have that strange burn on the brain…what could have caused this anomaly (edited) 1mo

Eve finds out that what was supposed to be a one night stand landed her pregnant - and while she‘s still trying to process everything, she tells her best friend and doesn‘t exactly get the best reaction. I mean - I get that Willa is entitled to her feelings but Eve is right - she did make the news completely about her, and that‘s not right.⬇️

StayCurious When Eve needs her best friend the most, Willa isn‘t there for her. Sad. Already this book has me feeling the feels. I‘m looking forward to more with Willa‘s brother though. He seems sweet. 1mo

OriginalCyn620 Yeah, I get that Willa was upset by the news considering she‘s having fertility issues, but she checked out when Eve needed her. Not her finest friend moment, but their friendship seems strong. And I already have a crush on Shep! 1mo

peanutnine I'm so glad Eve didn't apologize for "springing the news" on Willa. Yes, it must be difficult for her with her fertility issues but it's not Eve's fault. I really hope they can talk things out soon instead of skirting around their feelings. I have a feeling that Shep is gonna step up for the emotional support she needs though, I love him already 1mo

CogsOfEncouragement I‘ve had a few people in my life have difficulty conceiving. One adopted three children, and still couldn‘t bring herself to attend my baby shower. She sent a sweet gift though. I‘ve seen glimpses of their heartbreak month after month and feel for Willa. Shep is completely endearing. 1mo

maich I understand Willa. I've tried for 5 years to get pregnant and all my friends already had childrens. Everyone asked us 'what are you waiting it's time for childrens'. My mother tormented me with questions like these. It was hard time. Finally I got pregnant with high risk pregnancy. And gave birth at 32 weeks to premature baby. 1mo

julesG I loved Shep's reaction to the news. Willa has her reasons for not being overly enthusiastic. I get that the situation is tough on her, but Eve is her best friend, she could have mustered a tiny bit of cheer. 1mo

I also agree with your thoughts @CogsOfEncouragement I have a friend struggling who lost her last one when we were pregnant together. She stopped spending time with me after my oldest turned 1 because it was painful. We still talk and she supports me. I support her as best we can. I hope Willa will be able to work through her emotions to support Eve. 1mo
