Long weekend vibes - audio books and getting the veg garden in 💚💚
Long weekend vibes - audio books and getting the veg garden in 💚💚
This is touted as a background story to Rochester‘s wife in the attic from Jane Eyre ( not officially a retell of a classic)
It‘s a tiny book, almost a novella, but what a wild haunting story. The POV changes, narrators are unreliable- I feel like I‘m the crazy one. What is real? What is happening 🤯
After school swim and a read ❤️ shark reading season kicks off now ( let‘s see how this book goes )
Started last night and I‘m going to bail. My TBR is going to literally kill me when it topples, I don‘t have time for books that don‘t bring me joy
I love this series so much! It‘s comfort reading at its finest ❤️❤️ a lot of betrayal in this story and Charlotte‘s and Lord Ingram‘s personal story heats up 🥰🥰
Loved this! Another audio that had me talking out loud further cementing my crazy status with the neighbours 👏🏻👏🏻 I can‘t wait to chat it up at the end of the month with #literarycrew #buddyread the midwifery component was really fascinating ❤️ the disparaging/disposable way men treated women in the past 🤬 they should be happy we want to be equal and not vindictive
A Mother‘s Weekend ( because we deserve more than a day - please note my husband‘s choice in my mug this morning) gift to myself, finishing this tbook. I can‘t say I loved it, but I did love a lot of the banter between TC and his family and friends. It‘s an exhausting look at Henry VIII and the Tudor reign. The author had an interesting ( awkward) writing style using ( overusing) ‘he‘ that I stumbled over and over on
All of these are for Buddy reads 🤷🏻♀️ I am finishing Wolf Hall this weekend ✔️ I‘ve learned there is a show on Hulu in the US and not sure where in 🇨🇦 called Shardlake set during this time and I‘m keen to watch it ( mysterious murders in monasteries). I am caught up with Sargasso for this weekend, now I need to finish my section of Manhattan Girls for tomorrow. I‘m going to start something light and fluffy and short after Wolf
Speakeasy vibes for #sundaybuddyread #iykyk that‘s a delightful pink gin fizz in my tea cup, I‘m channeling Jane and her tasty bathtub gin
It doesn‘t look like much but I have gardened like a maniac all afternoon. I weeded, edged a giant swath of garden and planted all my new for the backyard plants. Thank heavens for audio books 🙏🏻❤️ I was so engrossed in this story I didn‘t care that I was exhausted and I have to work tomorrow 🤣🤣 this book was a “Top 5 Books With Buzz”on an Amazon list I saw and my library had it 🎉 it‘s interesting to pair with Wolf Hall #literarycrew
I‘m just pretending its Friday over here
1. Today has been a Day so I‘m most thankful for amazing co-workers, ☀️, and my family 2. I am hopeful for 🍷 📚 and a day off tomorrow ( whether I spend the day doing my list or nothing remains to be seen 😆) thx for the tag @dabbe Would you like to play @TheBookHippie @AmyG ?
#readyourkindle this is my 7th book and this is the month I will read it ( my third is stacked for my summer trip and baby steps with this kindle reading thing 🤣🤣🤣)
Snow White bag #12 final roof section and the end of this book. I read about this book a few weeks ago as one of the top 5 trending books. I‘m not sure it would‘ve been on my radar otherwise. The author has written a memoir about his brother in law who could do anything ( write, draw, build a house, ski, bike) he put his mind to and had the swagger of a movie star but as the title suggests, he also battled unsurmountable personal demons.
Just started, read part 1, and holy smokes that‘s a lot of action piled into 35 pages 🤯😳
It‘s been a day - 2 pulled fire alarms at school and the littles are already losing their minds cuz of warmer weather so chaos was afoot. I‘m plodding along with this giant tomb - I find this book strange in its telling. I know the ‘he‘ usually means it‘s Thomas Cromwell but every other person is Thomas and when Thomas Avery goes to talk to TC and he walks over to him I guess it doesn‘t matter who he is cuz it‘s Thomas 🤯 somebody
It‘s been awhile since I read this but I‘m looking forward to the discussions #janeadjacent #pemberlittens #12monthsofjane
Next on audio while I gorilla garden before the rains come
The sun came out, rain is forecasted for the whole week cuz why not just April out the month of April 🤦🏻♀️ I LOVE Amanda Montell, this book is just buzzing around in my brain making sense of the world and me. Two big take aways for me; nostalgia can be toxic ( Make ______ Great Again) and shared experiences don‘t unite us like in the past (see pandemic) because individuals see things through their personal lens and won‘t be swayed by facts
Still reading this chunkster. I‘m not quite 1/2 way into it but I‘m trying to finish this week ( I don‘t think I will manage April 30th)
And yes, I did go out of town for 2 days and bring 4 books with me
Final #pemberlittens #janeadjacent read ( maybe? 🙏🏻) was a treat - felt like reading Jane herself but with a sprinkling of magic ❤️❤️❤️ I still don‘t understand the title though 🤷🏻♀️I have the second in the series to see what happens next altho‘ this ended as if it was a stand alone ( I was seriously worried about a cliffhanger and that is not JA approved)
I love this book! The cover is great too. It‘s a quiet, beautiful story about a life lived fully with grace and goodness ❤️❤️❤️
@TheBookHippie it was a double Litsy mail day for me 🥰🥰 I laughed right out loud when I opened this gem ❤️❤️❤️ you are a stellar book chooser and an amazing facilitator of Sunday Buddy Read, my Sundays are wonderful no matter the book thx to all your planning, prompting and when necessary, book throwing. This was an unexpected and thoughtful touch. I‘m so so glad I found #sundaybuddyread 🥰🥰
@dabbe Denise 🎉🎉🎉 look what I came home to!!! What a fantastic ending to my school day ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much for this unexpected, thoughtful, and generous gift #litsylove makes the world so much better 🥰🥰 I can‘t wait to read it
Snow White bag #11 Dopey has arrived, all dwarves are accounted for and more roofing has gone up. I love Amanda Montell books
I‘m glad I‘m not the only one who exhausts herself with thought
I honestly think more people should read/listen to this. It‘s eye opening how social media is being used to manipulate what we see/hear and how that influences us. It sounds conspiracy theory like but MR has exhaustive research and examples of when and how the public is manipulated using ‘stories‘ and algorithms. I understand why 🇨🇦 gov‘t blocked news being on FB and IG but the stupid shit is still getting through so it‘s a half assed attempt
Snow White bag #9 6/7 dwarves and a roof for sleeping under. I‘m flipping between this book and Taylor‘s TTPS ( so far my favourites are Florida and thanK you aIMee - I love a good F bomb )
I am loving the latest #janeadjacent #buddyread and so impatient to discuss our 2 chapters everyday 🤣 Melody makes my blood boil, I wish she‘d really twist her damn ankle #karma
My husband is half Swedish, and in Sweden they celebrate name days ( definitely not the only country to do this 😉) and I‘m celebrating by having chips and wine with my reading time on a Tuesday. I‘ve spent 3 days in the same grade 5 classroom and I have never been so ‘childsplained‘ to in my life #treatmyself
We are having beautiful weather today. I got off to a rocky start with this book, HW complains a lot - about his parents, his struggles, his life but he is always kind to those around him. His battles with dyslexia, I think he‘s 34 when he realizes that is what his problem is and its genetic ( his daughter and step son have it too) is a turning point and so is getting a therapist ( much later than that). His wife narrates too ❤️ which is smart
Snow White bag #5 no dwarf today 😢 but Henry is talking about the show Barry ❤️ I love that show so much, it is just bonkers
Snow White bag #4, dinner is ready
I had planned to reorganize all of our files and papers and crap ( I ordered new files from Amazon) but if it‘s DEAR Day then I will just do as I‘m told and consider my to do list dropped
Off the TBR and beside my bed now. The first seven pages is the cast of characters and family trees aka my first night reading and I thought “good grief, am I up for this ?!” and promptly fell asleep 😆 last night I got sucked right in with the story proper 🙏🏻
Bag #2 of Snow White and started Being Henry. It‘s kind of a clash following The Postcard. Henry‘s parents are German Jews who escaped Berlin before the war really kicked off, his father misled his mom that they were just going on a work trip ( worked in the lumber trade) and then stayed in New York. Their entire family left behind perished. He is almost disparaging about the faux family they create to replace the lost one.
I raced after school to buy pansies and get home to finish this book. It felt like summer today (21°C) so perfect to finish this book. I love Elin Hilderbrand, I want to live in a cottage in Nantucket. This book was bittersweet and a lot sad
Soooo good! Best book I have read this year! What an amazing story! #europacollective
Enjoying my day off ( PD Day because of the eclipse) so I‘m cracking open Snow White, I hit the grocery store with every other person going out before the solar eclipse show starts, now for some sushi and Lego. I LOVE this story, I want to inhale it but I need to savour it
#motivationalmonday 1. Watching eclipse ( hopefully the clouds clear) and bookclub Thursday 2. Coffee, water, tea, Bubly, wine, and too many chips 3. I have so many bookmarks, but lately it‘s a Barbie sticker that I can‘t seem to lose unlike the bookmarks 4. 28 Summers ( for bookclub) The Postcard, Zorrie and Wolf Hall
Current buddy and bookclub reads that are on now or about to start #gettingmyducksinarow 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 I‘m not sure I can imagine only reading 1 book at a time 🤣🤣
