I forgot to mention that I received a free copy of this book when I volunteered for Authors! at my local library. Ilyon Woo, now a Pulitzer winner, was delightful and eloquent.

This is a low pick for me. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. There was creepiness; however, most of the action and outright scares don't occur until the end. This opinion might partly be shaped by the fact that I only read partway before listening to the audiobook, and then returning to print in the end. 3.5 stars.

Listening to What Grows in the Dark while I do epaint-by-numbers. This one is from The Wind in the Willows.
Listening to this while writing out wedding invitations.
1. My wonderful mom - She suffers from dementia, but is still one of the sweetest people I know.
2. My soon-to-be bridesmaids - They stepped up when I needed them.
3. Friends - They helped me more than family this week.
4. Writing out wedding invites.
5. My volunteer hours at the library.

1. I used to to work with my older brother when he was a page in the library. I once read Tamara Pierce's The Woman Who Rides Like a Man all in a 4 hour shift. I used to read a lot faster then. Grad school killed that ability.
2. Libby, Hoopla, the library, and an occasional buy. I've also done some book swaps.
3. What Grows in the Dark by Jaq Evans

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't scary, but it could be unsettling at times. It walked the thin lin between reality and fantasy very well.
4.5 stars.

My library has a Dungeons and Dragons Volunteer position. I just spent my hours playing DnD with a librarian, another volunteer, and a bunch of teenagers. It was a lot of fun.

I enjoyed this #NancyDrewBR. While there wasn't as much action, Ned Nickerson was finally introduced. He seems to be able to keep up with Nancy easily. Once again, one of Carson Drew's cases tied in with Nancy's.

Reading the #NancyDrewBR while drinking wine makes me feel kind of deviant. lol
What makes a haunting? 20 years ago, an entire street disappears with only 3 girls escaping. This book takes a unique look at the haunted house trope. How someone can be haunted as much by grief and loss as something supernatural. 4 out of 5 stars.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was 80 degrees with lots of sun. Today the high is 55 with rain. I'll be reading inside today.
I found all five words in two books: Monsters We Have Made and Lost Man's Lane.
