This was super, very much in the same vein as 'Madhouse at the End of the World' (although not quite as good as it, in my opinion).

Firmly in my cowboy era! Loving this series! I've just finished 'Powerless' and it was great; this series would make great beach reads this summer. They do suffer from the overused cliche phrases that a lot of these books use- it's like book bingo - how many times does the FMC roll her lips or how many times does the MMC's jaw pop and they all hum .... Yep, hum!!!! However, they are such feel good reads that I can overlook this....most of the time
I just love Sarah Perry's writing... It probably doesn't matter what she writes, it's just the way she writes... I loved this and I loved the connection with 'The Essex Serpent'. She writes so sensitively about religion and faith- her characters are so human and real. I heartily recommend everything she has ever written 🐍🐍💚💫✨🌘🌌🌠
I loved this, but I didn't enjoy it!!! Oxymoron!? Yes, but hear me out - Keegan's writing is amazing, it brings back the very smell of my granny's kitchen! However, most of these short stories were super unsettling and uncomfortable to read ... So I loved it, but I didn't like it 🤷
This is Norah's current fave- it is such a sweet bedtime book. It would make a lovely baby gift 🦄💗😴✨💫
I'm really enjoying this... It's making me want to go hiking through America's national parks! My mum made me this beautiful quilt for my birthday 💗
Happy Saturday! I'm only half way through this book, but it is definitely a pick from me- it has me cackling with laughter!!!
Happy Monday 💞
Happy Sunday! Storm Kathleen is still battering at my door here in N Ireland, but I'm snuggled up with books and coffee ☕☕☕ I just finished The Thursday Murder Club and it was fantastic!!! I picked it out of the book box in the village where I live ages ago and put off reading it as I thought it would be too 'cosy' crime for- but I loved it! It was so funny and sad and bittersweet and it has me guessing until the end! Loved it!💗
This was a super YA feminist retelling of the HadesXPersephone myth- one of the better ones I have read. I love how it dealt with how young boys and men are negatively impacted by toxic masculinity and a patriarchal society- a really refreshing portrayal of Hades! 💀💗💐🪷Also, the stunning cover inspired my nails 😍
Happy Easter everyone 🐇💝
I was a little disappointed with 'Bride' but it's not really the book...I just don't think I'm a werewolf/vampire person .... I never went through the 'Twilight' phase. It was well written and quite funny at times... Just not for me 🤷 I'm off to eat this chocolate bunny, drink tea and read! Have a fabulous Easter Sunday 💖
This was so good 💚🐍🐦⬛ I loved The Hunger Games trilogy and was worried that I wouldn't like this and it would ruin it for me, but it actually enhanced the story so much that I need to go back and read the trilogy again! Seeing Coriolanus Snow become President Snow was so clever and this book really deepened his character. I'll be thinking about this book for awhile!
Happy St Patrick's Day from N Ireland 💚🍀☘️
I love Katee Robert's writing- she writes truly hot spice in a beautiful way! I love the worlds and characters she creates 💘
Both these books were 5 🌟 they were very different, but both made me cry. I now get the obsession with the Throne of Glass series!!! Lorcan and Elide ❤️
I have such a soft spot for Katee Robert 💖 This was spicy 🔥, although a little more focused on the politics of the overarching plot, than the main relationships, but it was actually good to see how the story is moving on.... Can't wait for the next one ❤️
I mean.... I'm not sure what to say.... For most of it I was feeling my usual SJM frustrations.... Please stop 'huffing laughter' and 'baring' teeth at each other!!! Also, come on Bloomsbury, I found 3 spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes!!! However, as always, the last 200 pages were epic... It was all worth it in the end and I will be dreaming about these characters for the foreseeable 🔥❤️🤩✨🌟🕳️☄️🌠🌌🪐
Happy Valentine's Day!! Valentine's book, nails, coffee 🌹☕ who needs real love when there are romance novels on the world 😉💖
This was excellent! The style was light and facetious at times and I felt like I understood a tiny bit more by the end ... It definitely made me want to read his poetry again.
Massive day of strikes here in N Ireland! It was great to see people uniting to support one another, and it was also great to have a little time to curl up with this fantastic book! I highly recommend it; probably best for ages 10- 14. However, really anyone could enjoy it. It's still super snowy and icy here, so wrapping up with hot choco and good books for the foreseeable future 💕
It is seriously cold and snowy here today... But not quite bad enough for a snow day....so stuck in school looking out at the ice ❄️ The Running Grave was super- I found some parts of it hard to read, in terms of the tension and subject matter, but it is worth it for that ending .... Iykyk 💯
Happy new year 🎊 Here's to lots of good reads and 5 star picks in 2024 🥰
Christmas trees down, house clean and I'm starting a new book! I don't have a book of the year, but I do have a series of the year- this Cormoran Strike series has been my fave this year and I can't wait to get stuck into this one. Happy New Year everyone!
Twinkly lights, Bailey's coffee and Christmas smut ❤️🎅🎄❤️🔥❄️🥵 Merry Christmas everyone....I hope you get lots of good books from Santa xx
Some soft, cozy, smutty seasonal reading this week 🥰 This is actually quite funny and although some of the 'banter' is cringy, it's Christmas, so I can let it go 🎄❤️
Two of the most beautiful Christmas books for children. I love buying books as presents... and I always manage to sneak a few in for myself ❄️🎅☃️🎄
Happy Saturday!!! Lily is horse riding (I don't actually need to stay....it's just so peaceful!) and I'm reading (a really good book) and drinking (a really good coffee) 🥰
Storm Debi is giving us a real battering today ... so hot chocolate is needed in my classroom! 🌧📚☕️🍫
Woohoo! Completed my Good Reads Challenge!!!! The Haunted Hotel was pretty meh ... disappointing as I loved The Woman in White!
This was super spicy 🌶🌶🌶 I love the worlds that Robert's creates... this one feels like it crosses into the world of Dark Olympus. However, the editing on this one wasn't great- there were so many typos and grammatical errors! However, the spicy smut kind of made up for it 😉
Another cosy autumn read! Some of these short stories were great, with sharp twists that I didn't see coming and atmospheric settings.
Super! Fantastic read for ages 10 - 14 years. An important read in today's world ... raising compassionate young adults 🧡
Cute and cosy 🧡🍂🎃🧡 but the spelling and punctuation errors were wick and the overuse of certain phrases set my teeth on edge 😒🙄
I don't usually use a kindle, but I borrowed my husband's to access this Dark Olympus novella. It was short and sweet (although a number of editing errors kind of soured it for me a bit). 🐍🐍🐍
This was a super read, really emotive and impacting... such a good choice for young readers- encourages them to see beyond their own lives and circumstances and helps them appreciate some of our basic civil liberties that are denied to others in certain parts of the world. 💔🌍
I am reading a lot of Junior fiction at the moment as I started a new teaching job and am teaching new texts. Reading new material and making new resources are my favourite things to do. I have particularly loved 'Prince of Mist' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and 'The Good Thieves' by Katherine Rundell. Super choices for 11- 14/15 year olds.
This was super! It was quite similar to 'Little Fires Everywhere' in that the types of characters, relationships and messages were similar, but they are so good that it doesn't matter... I love Ng's writing and the awareness she brings to the reader of different life experiences is so important ✨️
It says a lot about my mood that I have just read two Katee Robert's back to back! Sometimes only a little romance and a whole lot of spice can provide the escapism that I currently need in my life! These are both great... but super spicy 🌶🌶❤️❤️😉
Curled up in bed with Corey to finish this one. I flew through this, it was a pacey read that definitely kept me gripped. The context of Nigeria was central and was so interesting, as was the idea of mob mentality and the why did it happen, as opposed to whodunnit. I felt the narrative style was a bit jarring at times and because it was fast paced there were elements that felt under developed. However, I will def read the next one in the series.
My fave in this series so far! I am feeling much warmer towards these characters and am beginning to understand the love people have for it . .. although, it's still no ACOTAR!
