Just another day at the office 😂
.
Quick throwback to when we had Elephant & Piggie visit our library over the summer! I love my job for so many reasons, but being able to put on events like this is one of the biggest. This was such a fun time, and the kids absolutely LOVED meeting their favorite book characters in real life 💕

If you could meet any fictional character, who would you choose and why? 🤔

Kent State | Deborah Wiles
post image
Mehso-so

Kent State covered hundreds of pages of material, both about the Kent State killings and events at other colleges occurring at around the same time. Wiles scratched the surface of everyone‘s stories, trying to cover every side but as a result giving no side the chance to be fully developed and explored. Overall this was a great concept but underdeveloped and lacking. Good intro to Kent State but definitely look at other resources as well.

And the award for World‘s Best Book Buddy goes to…😍

Do y‘all have a reading buddy too? 🐶🐱 Molly‘s mine, but I did see a book blogger with a ferret guarding her books so I‘m ready to hear about them all! 💕

This book was set to function as a superhero origin story, and it explained Pepper‘s piece extremely well. However, when it came to explaining Supernova and her transformation, I was disenchanted. Supernova learned how to use her powers way too quickly to make sense, and the big fight scene that should‘ve been a good chunk of the book was over in just a few pages. This was such a cute concept, but it just felt unfinished.

Cujo | Stephen King

Got to add my first book to my #BookBingo board! Cujo has been on my radar for AGES, and I felt like a fake King fan not having read such a well-known work of his 😂 Luckily, I loved this one, so my status as a King stan has been safely restored.

My reads for September 💕 I can‘t believe I got 12 books in, but these were all so good! I celebrated Banned Books week right by reading 4 (technically 5) banned or challenged books, and I got to continue in some series I absolutely loved.

Does anyone else listen to the audiobook of their current read while reading the physical book? I tend to listen faster than I read, so when I do both at the same time, I‘m able to read faster. I also can‘t sit still, so looking at the physical book while listening to it allows me to read for longer, maintain focus, & retain what I‘m reading better. I feel like I‘m the only one who does this but I SWEAR someone taught me 😂

The Boy at the Back of the Class is about a refugee boy named Ahmet, who fled from Syria to escape the war. While the story itself was a good one and the ending was exactly what you wanted it to be, the writing was juvenile (more so than needed for its target age range) and with the controversy surrounding this author, I can‘t give it my support. 3/5 stars overall, but I would love some other books on this topic that I can recommend to others.

#ProgressCheck on my current read! I‘m about 30% through Children of Blood and Bone, and it‘s such an engaging read 💕 I‘m still intimidated by how long it is, but I have a feeling that soon enough, I won‘t be able to put this one down!

Pickpick

Such a memorable, heartbreaking read. I can 100% understand why this is called the Bible of anti-war literature, and my heart hurts now that it‘s over. This was thought provoking and anger inducing and I‘m honestly already ready to read it again.

Little late night reading before bed 💕 Has anyone else read this one? It‘s reminding me of Numbers by Rachel Ward, but only 24 pages in, I don‘t have too much else to say.
