I enjoyed the beginning but the ending was very long. Anyone else read this book? I'd love to hear your thoughts

Page Turner but not sure I liked how quickly everything was settled. Apparently its based on a true story but the author has not stated this which seems strange! Anyone else read this? Thoughts?

Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm so sad this is over 😢 I don't want to be done with their story! Don't know how I'll be able to move on! What a read over 4 books. I'm going to have to read the other 3 again so as to understand everything fully. I definitely recommend it!

Ahh maybe in expecting too much from this book? Either way I'm excited to start!

Aleida Shadow of the Wind will be tough to follow. 13mo
pitou215 This is the 4th book in the zgadiw if the wind series and none of them have been as good... But I still enjoyed them ☺ have you read any of the others? 13mo

Interesting book to read. Not all of it is unbiased but still an eye opener to a lot of subjects. Definitely one to read as a building block to learning about human nature.

I absolutely loved this book. Could not recommend it enough. We need to open our eyes to the world of materialism that we live in. Somebody has to make the things we buy. The profit driven world we live in means there are people who suffer for our choices. Definitely read this book! A story that needs to be shared ☺

Nowhere near as good as the other previous books. Took various attempts to get hooked and the storyline was a bit weird and relationships a bit too cliche. Quite a dissappointment... Has anyone else read this? I would love to hear other opinions

Short story that I loved. I definitely recommend. There's not a lot you can say without spoilers but it's based on a true story which makes it all more shocking. If you can get your hands on the book I recommend it!

Finally had a chance to relax and fit some reading in. Unfortunately I have been really busy recently and have struggled to read (mind wandering elsewhere) but have finally come back with this book. So far so good! Anyone else reading this?

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read this classic book, so when I saw it in the library I decided to give it a shot. So far it's great and I love the little fables within it. we always want what we don't have and yet we forget to treasure what we already do have... Great little reminder to be thankful.

Cpg If I read it- it was way back in school- or the “Cliff Notes” lol! That dates me, huh??? Makes me think I should read it now! 2y

So disappointed in this book. I was expecting great things after having loved the girl on the train and sadly was let down. I'd be interested to know other people's views on this book to compare

JoScho I couldn‘t finish it. It was confusing and I was struggling to follow the characters. I was listening to an audiobook so that may have been a factor. I might try again in the future but was also disappointed. 2y
pitou215 I thought the same and I was reading the book. Was so hard to keep up with whose story I was reading and what their role was in the story. I found the going back to some of the original characters who drowned frustrating and it added nothing to the story. Why did they drown? What's so intriguing about this spot? Maybe she rushed this book after having had such huge success with the girl on the train... 2y
ReviewsbytheMrs So interesting because I loved The Girl on the Train but I have heard from a few people that this one is not great. Based on that, I am not going to read it. Too many great thrillers out there! 2y

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego It's too bad it didn't live up to expectation. I was one of the few who didn't like The Girl on the Train. Was considering reading this just to give her another try, but I think I'll pass. 2y
CaitlinR It WAS disappointing. A cast of 100s, and most did not contribute to the story. Was it perhaps written before Girl on the Train, but published after? BTW, I thought the movies for Girl/train was very disappointing. 2y
pitou215 Same. I didn't like the fact that the whole setting had changed London to New York etc but then I don't remember the last time I was impressed by a film adaptation of a book! I do wonder if it was written before a girl on the train or whether the publishers just put a lot of pressure to have a book that was just as successful so quickly? 2y
Myhusbandhatesreading I‘m getting ready to start this one. I just finished a few disappointing books. It sounds like this is going to be another one 😔 2y

I really wanted to like this book. Bit the prose was awful, I understand that it was done to fit well with the character but it was predictable and sentences were so short with so many full stops that about 100 pages from the end I'd guessed it all and skipped to the ending. Disappointed as the story line could have been so good in a well written book.

I picked up this book randomly in the new book section of the library and I'm so glad I did. Really enjoyed the story and it made me feel lucky that I live in a country where women's position in society has evolved and we are no longer punished for running away from our husbands. Though it's a reminder of how far we've come it's also a reminder of how much more we have yet to accomplish! Definitely recommend!

Had a very long break from being able to concentrate on reading so I decided to retry with Isabel Allende's book. I enjoyed the story but found it sometimes a bit too cheesy and unreal which is disappointing as this does not reflect any of her other books. Still worth a read and I still finished it quickly. I loved the stories of Latin Americans struggle to live in their countries and the need to leave.

therealdealbeall I felt like the romance was a little forced and not everything about the stuff happening with the car seemed realistic. I ended up enjoying it overall, but I agree it wasn't the same quality as other books of hers that I've read. 2y
pitou215 I agree with you! The fact he suddenly (out of the blue) realised he was in love disappointed me. 2y
