This is a horrific and vivid account, but so well done. I am in awe of these women. This is such an important piece of women‘s history. Sarah Helm wrote a thoroughly engrossing book about a nearly unimaginable crime committed by so many. Yes, it is hard to read, but this should be required reading.

Absolutely riveting and expertly told stories. Wonderful and shocking blend of humor and drama. These short stories are very different from each other in some ways, but together they tell an important and coherent story.

Always love this one when I read it. The fiber and the food.

SO happy to be finished with this book. Read some on Kindle and listened to some with Audible. Maybe the current political mess made this too real... I'm not sure. At any rate, I'm just happy to finish the last few words. The reader for the audiobook was EXCELLENT!

I think I'd have liked the written version of this book, so calling it a pick. However, I hated this audiobook. I listen to many audiobooks, and this was the first one I've felt this way about. It wasn't any one thing (feeling like you are being screamed at was pretty bad) but many. It makes me a little sad I didn't read the book first. I think I'll have baggage now. I have rarely (if ever) been so glad to be done with a book.

Finally finishing this up. Guess it just wasn't for me.. I did make it through, but barely. I just never got engrossed in the story or attached to the characters.

This was excellent. Desperate and heartbreaking and yet hopeful. I don't often read books slowly, but I made this one last. If you've never heard of this author, look her up. Sounds like a fascinating woman with an amazing story. Can't wait to read her other books.

Just bought this today after many of you posted that it was on sale at Amazon. I'd wanted to read it for a while, and I wasn't disappointed. Some parts funny, others sad and depressing, others horrifying and anger inducing. Unfortunately none of is surprising. Overall, the book and her stories ring true on so many levels.

So much truth in this book.

This is excellent so far.

Interesting and more thought provoking than many in this genre.
