I set out to read this a while back, and for some reason fell into something else. However, it has been on my mind a while, so I am jumping back into this story.

Brilliant! As soon as I finished this book, I went straight to Amazon to look for the next in the series. I love the way each Prince of Hell was their namesake incarnate. As with most books, I did not find myself skipping paragraphs nor pages to advance the story. The ending was both expected and unexpected, as I thought I had it figured out, but was off just a bit. Can't wait for the second installment.

I suppose, after reading the blurb, I was expecting more magic, and it was a story more about short battles with different spirits/demons to obtain the objects needed to unlock the magic. Written in a "Gone Girl" alternating voice style, we do get a view point from the two main protagonists, Slate and Cadence, which lets you get to know each more indepthly. However the romance between the two is uncomfortable as she is ... continued in comments .

What a good read for Halloween. A haunted house, a medium, a sceptic, and well developed characters for a quick, gothic read. There is a bit of romance, ok a tad more than a bit, but it is not over the top. While the ending felt rushed and a bit scattered,, it was still worth the read.

I finished The Silent Patient last night, well 0500 because I could not put it down. I thought I had it figured out multiple times, and it wasn't until the last few chapters that I realized I had been completely off base each time. Definitely worth a read.

Time for a new adventure.

Vapid, spoiled rich girls abound, but a decent read if you are in the mood for something light.

My favorite book. Clair Danes does a wonderful narration.
