October BOTM picks are live!

What are we thinking?!

I was hoping for more spooky options!

MittenGirlPeach I went ahead with Payne‘s Hollow; I seldom read spooky but I liked the Sleepy Hollow connection, and it‘s good to read outside my usual genres. Keeps it interesting and outside my usual literary boxes! 38m
bookish_wookish I‘m leaning toward that one and Hazelthorn @MittenGirlPeach 37m
MittenGirlPeach @bookish_wookish Hazelthorn sounded intriguing too! 36m
bookish_wookish It says it‘s YA so I‘m on the fence if it will really be that spooky! @MittenGirlPeach 35m

There's so many big concepts to discuss in this one; perfect for a book club. Violet is a recently released prisoner struggling with guilt and grief. Harriet is a widowed woman who leads a prison book club. Frank is a widower attempting to move on to a new future. The concept of forgiveness is a big one. Also, I kept thinking about the motherless daughters in the book: Sophie, Kristy, and Violet. Each one struggles with grief in a different way.

This book is told from the point of view of 3 characters, Opaline, Martha and Henry. The chapters alternate between all 3. Opaline in the past, Martha and Henry in the present. I liked all 3 stories and enjoyed reading them. Opaline's made me the most furious with the injustices done to her. At the end of the book all 3 stories converge. There was a bit of magicalness in the lost bookshop that made the book more fun. This was a pleasant book.

Not getting much reading done at the moment as life is a bit busy blowing me off track!
Anyway, finished this yesterday and loved it. Wish I‘d have been in the position to visit Silver Moon when it was open.
Used one of my Boudicca bookmarks as these women were modern day warriors!

squirrelbrain Fab! I should get round to reading this soon. And don‘t worry - plenty of reading next weekend! 😊 1w

A bit philosophical, preachy at times, simple, slow and light - description “healing fiction” suits :) The book had good thoughts about about work-life balance. But it seemed plotless, monotonous and dragged-out.

I enjoyed this book, but don't think I will continue - not my fav, it was “okay“. I do really love the idea of this little town with a bunch of cute little bookstores! I would definitely go to that town!

Gemma Doyle finds what has the potential to be a valuable historical document hidden in her shop. When she tries to return it to the. woman she is convinced left it, she discovers her dead body. As she tries to solve the mystery, it seems to put a kibash on her relationship with the local detective. 3.5-4⭐️

Brought my best friend to the Friends of the Library bookstore that I've been frequenting for years (her first time) for some much needed book therapy, and came home with this #bookhaul. She bought an equally large stack and instantly fell in love with the store. 📚 💕

TheBookHippie I love the Friends sales!!! 2w
kspenmoll Wonderful stack! We just donated the last of our books for our library sale…coming up! 2w
