I quit Amazon a while back too. I'm originally from the Seattle area, so was an early adopter when they were just a bookseller. But I got tired of seeing business close down.
BookShop.org is great - they donate 75% of the book's profit margin to indie bookstores. You can even choose which bookstore you want the funds to go to, using the map!
