⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I loved this book! It is a fictionalized tale of real-life events that centers strong characters. While the core of the story is about prejudices against women, esp those of a certain class and race, the book features men who are also good people. If you enjoy books of historical fiction that are character-driven and committed to the power of women, I highly recommend this book. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59807978

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 Can we talk about that book cover? 😍 This book is about secrets, ancient diviniation, free will, and fate. Set within the real-life Medieval museum, The Cloisters, this book has a captivating gothic essence that‘ll keep fans of a dark academia aesthetic turning the page. If you enjoy mysteries, art museums, and gothic settings, I recommend this book for you. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61054804

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ This book was my #lmbc pick, Rd 16, Group W. It is is about facing our pains and finding peace in who we are alongside that pain. Hi, y‘all. My Henry (my fur baby pictured) passed away unexpectedly this past weekend. My heartache is profound. Im wondering if anyone knows of any books they could recommend that discuss the process of grief for the loss of animal companions. He was my reading buddy- always jumping into my lap and cuddling with me when I read. I feel his absence significantly.

goodbyefrancie I don't have a recommendation for you, but I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. 1mo
Chrissyreadit I‘m so very sorry. I do not know any books offhand but think it‘s ok to read any book about grief because pets are family 😢❤️ 1mo

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 Written by a true crime podcast host, this is a thriller that resembles the JonBenét Ramsey case. The book‘s primary narrator is a reporter who has returned home to care for her uncle. During that time, she is determined to identify the connection bw the unsolved murder of her childhood friend and another murder. The book is an engaging, quick read, but the abrupt ending makes me wonder if the author plans to write a sequel.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ This book is about a generation of Vietnamese women whose lives have long been shaped by a “curse” - the arbitrary rules that can bind women into roles not of their own making. Fortunately, once women recognize their own agency their story can be one of redemption. If you‘re looking for a book to move your soul, pick this one up. I smirked, laughed, and cried my way through it. A bonus: I learned a lot about Vietnamese culture.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Much like Allen‘s other books, this book is sweet, whimsical, and tender hearted. At the core, the book is about the power of stories to guide (and, sometimes hinder) our lives, especially the power of creating stories with the families we find. If you enjoy magical realism, you‘ll likely enjoy this book. There are some difficult topics briefly mentioned (or hinted at) in the book, so reader be cautious.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 This book is about the power of writing one's own story. I recommend it for readers who are seeking a lighthearted read and/or readers who love reading books about the power of reading. If you liked Phaedra Patrick's other books (e.g., The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper), you'll likely find this book charming. This book would make for an enjoyable vacation or beach read. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. This book is an unapologetic feminist perspective about what it means to be a girl and/or a woman in a patriarchal society. It is also about what happens when girls and women fight back, naming, recognizing, and enacting their power. I recommend this book for readers who enjoy magical realism, strong female characters, and blatant feminism. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4812945230

July‘s #botm. I typically don‘t gravitate to sci-fi, but all y‘all‘s accolades and excitement for it on Litsy (plus great reviews on Goodreads) convinced me to try it. #bookofthemonth
