Super interesting examination of women walking in cities and all the social and political factors surrounding them. Definitely makes you want to take to the streets!

A little disappointed in this one. The title is a little misleading, most of the essays are more about LA culture and Joan Didion than the dead girl trope, which is the part I was most interested in. There are some standouts though and she makes a number of interesting points. I will say if you love reading about LA and celebrity culture you will probably really enjoy this!

In RI we have an amazing, magical book van called Twenty Stories that sells books throughout the Providence area. They thoughtfully handpick 20 titles a month and pop up to sell them all over the city. It‘s basically my dream come true! @bookriot #riotgrams Day 2: Local bookstore or library

Easily one of my new favorite books of all time. Atmospheric, gothic, totally immersive, it‘s soooo good. Would highly recommend for a creepy, slightly magical, October read. #riotgrams Day #1: current read

MsRadioSilence Hellow, I realize this is an old post, but where did you find those tarot cards? They‘re absolutely GORGEOUS! 6y

Night Circus | Erin Morgenstern

For some reason I went into this book skeptical and had to wait until the hype died down to read it and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it! This book oozed atmosphere and I could not get enough delicious details about this mysterious circus. It is up there with Hogwarts in terms of places I wish were real. The slow, tension-filled build up reminded me of Jonathan Strange which is a style I love. A++

Slow burning, unsettling, and super suspenseful. Loved the portrayal of the teenage friendship in this book and the writing style in general. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

Not flawless, but it felt very good to be back in the world of Harry Potter. ❤️

I am OBSESSED with the art in this book. Even if you're usually a person who wants to punch Batman in the face, you might not want to punch him as much in this one because it's so beautiful. Also, the story is a SUPER good whodunnit. ❤️❤️❤️

I run the Rhode Island chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance and throughout July-August we are reading and discussing books with trans characters or trans authors!! This is my first pick and I am so excited because I have heard nothing but great things! 🌈

bookishkai Yay for Little Rhody! What other trans-related books are on your radar? 8y
Actually_Perry Thanks! Together we've compiled a pretty good sized list but these are a few that I will be getting my hands on asap!: 8y

This was my first Jeanette Winterson book! The writing was beautiful. It has the type of passages you have to underline because it perfectly captures a thought you've had a million times and have never been able to articulate. I really enjoyed it and look forward to picking up more of her books!

Bibliogeekery She's such an amazing writer! 8y

Gorgeous day for a beach read! This book is a lot more "lighthearted" than things I usually pick up, but I'm enjoying it so far! Very funny rich people problems.

MrBook #Beachread is the best read 😎👍🏻. 8y

When I was in the third grade, The Westing Game BLEW my little mind. I am about to read it for the first time since then and I am SO excited right now. I hope it's as much of a masterpiece as my 9 year old self thought it was way back in 1997. 📚😍

This book was incredible. I love epic, multigenerational, sprawling sagas and this did not disappoint! John Steinbeck's characters are so rich, complex, and just have this timeless quality that makes them relatable and relevant in 2016 and I'm sure, for years to come. LOVE. ❤️

O. M. G. This book! This spooky, unraveling expedition into Area X had me hooked from start to finish. It was like the slow, unfolding mysteries of LOST + X-Files style conspiracy theories + Jules Verne exploration adventures. It hit like ALL my buttons. I picked up the sequel IMMEDIATELY!

I LOVED this first volume! Paper Girls perfectly taps into the nostalgia I feel for stories like E.T. and The Goonies, yet is still super fresh and original. Brian K. Vaughn is just such a fun, consistent storyteller and never disappoints. Also, the art and coloring in this book is BEAUTIFUL.
