While on holiday in Whitby, Kate goes into a jeweller's to buy a gift for a friend only to find the jeweller dead on the floor. In the meantime, Kate's god-daughter has disappeared, possibly to find her father, who is separated from her mother, or possibly to elope. Fortunately Mr Sykes and Mrs Sugden are also holidaying not too far away.

The usual good fun.

Always fascinating to read a book set in Whitby. I visited in 2016 and would love to go back!

Well, that‘s an easy #bookspin - sat down to read and realised I‘d actually read it already! Now I‘m wondering why I thought I hadn‘t & if there is another book in the series lurking about unread somewhere!

Pickpick

This mystery was set in Whitby at Halloween, so I saved it for Halloween weekend, which was perfect. It started a little slowly, but I got my covid booster Friday, so it may have been a lack of focus on my part. But the story picked up, I felt better, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. This series isn‘t a cosy exactly, but it does have a gentleness about it that I love. My final #Bookspin October read and it resulted in a bingo!

A conservator turned archaeologist working on a dig in Whitby is troubled by nightmares.

Excellent novella taking elements from different genres.

THE HAND CARESSING HER CHEEK was gentle but disquietingly large – as big as her whole head, it seemed.
