One caveat about this quote; I don‘t love the phrase “the best country in the world.” I love my country, it‘s my favourite, it‘s the best one for me, but I don‘t think that makes it just plain “the best.”

On this National Day of Mourning, I want to dedicate my post to my hero, Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter was someone that lived his life serving the world, knowing he didn‘t need a title to do good. His faith and works speaks volumes about the man he was, and his marriage to Rosalyn was one for the ages.

I‘ve been collecting his books, all signed, for years now, and they mean so much to me. Thank you President Carter for your service.

Leftcoastzen We need more like him , though it seems unlikely in these selfish times . 11mo

Everyone should read this book! We could all stand to learn more about friendships, the different kinds that exist, how to make them, maintain them, and the value of them. This was very well written, included a lot of real world examples and was thoroughly researched. I didn't know anything about the author going into it but learning that it was written by a black woman was the cherry on top 💜

I love our #coffeebeanbookclub missing from this amazing package is a mason jar filled with one of my fav candies (I hid them before the kids saw them). The coffee smells amazing, I LOVE the coffee coaster, and can‘t wait to try the jelly. This months read looks like so much fun. Thank you so much!!!

(The dog is a Great Dane, it's not a tiny Kobo!)

On the nonfiction side of things, Platonic is a book on How to Make Friends (with science!). It was more science than I expected, I'm a research nerd so I loved it, but it would make me think before recommending it. Info-packed but still very readable. Nurturing and supporting friendships is so important, and I'm glad to see it getting some serious attention.
