A Thousand Ships | Natalie Haynes

I feel like both books didn‘t do anything exciting. Both share an interesting premise - telling the Troy war from the women‘s perspective - yet often it was just a repetition of Achilles, Hectors, ... story and not truly theirs.

Meh. Strong premise and an engaging beginning, but in the end, it ended up being a story about Achilles. The women in the story remained flat. Whether that was intentional by the author or not, I definitely didn‘t appreciate it.

I hope A Thousand Ships (similar idea) is better.

This is a marvellous retelling of The Iliad from the women‘s perspective. Beautifully written, and immediately engrossing right from the first page. The dangers of working from home. After a constructive morning I just nipped our to buy a newspaper but made the mistake of sauntering past the marvellous Muswell Hill Bookshop, and seem to have been led astray. #nowillpower #muswellhillbookshop #muswellhill #n10 #muswellhillbilly #book #books #bookstagram #patbarker #mandascott #thesilenceofthegirls #atreacheryofspies #donttellcatherine
