Jumping on the #schoolbus even though I didn‘t #bunnyread sorry! I thought I‘d just sum up first year in high school (left) and the last year (right) I went from Aha and Amy Grant and bad hair and obsessing over Seventeen and Madamoiselle magazines to REM and Billy Bragg and a little more political awareness - plus lovely friends (that‘s a Bambina we hand painted at the bottom) Nice memories to recollect right now!

merelybookish Great pics! Love both Tracy Chapman & Billy Bragg. 💙 4y
Billypar Some great selections here. REM should have been on my list too. And that paint job is so cool! 4y

#20Series20Days Day 12: Junie B Jones

Junie B Jones was my son's favorite series when he was in elementary school. He loved how she said the quiet things out loud and did the things he knew he shouldn't do himself but wondered what would happen if he might. Well, that's why I loved her anyway. In any case reading these together with him gave me memories no author can write, for which the series will always be a favorite.

Someone has figured out that I'll let him stay up past his bedtime if it's because he wants me to read to him...

Reading this RF novel gave me so much nostalgia because I used to read the series! It‘s about a Junie B. Jones, a kindergartner who doesn‘t want to ride the school bus the first day! This book should be used for IR. One UDL and EL strategy is 3.1, activate or supply background knowledge, and 16, integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. The link for extension activities is here: www.juniebjones.com/activities #UCFLAE3414SP20

SequoiaC123 Before they read, I would activate prior knowledge by having them share their first day of school stories along with the emotions they felt to help them make the connection to the text. 4y
carolinem My favorite series of books ever! 4y
hadassajl Junie B. Jones is a classic! Love your picture. 4y
DrSpalding More detail needed regarding your website resource. Junie B is a fantastic character to have students study and learn more about the narrative element of characterization. She is smart, precocious, loud, outspoken… This series can be an independent read or you may choose to read them aloud after lunch or specials. I did this with first graders and they loved it!❤️📚 4y

Hello I‘m Freddie and I am reading Junie B Jones “and the stupid smelly Bus” My favorite color is purple and excited to be in the book club

LibrarianRyan I love this book, and have actually been on the Stupid Smelly buss. It made a stop at the bookstore across the street from my apartment. It was cool (even if at the time I had no idea what it was (and I thought the bookstore was off track betting). 4y
CodyFordPEDS Hi Freddie! You definitely got me interested in reading this book. I definitely want to know why the bus is smelly and I‘m excited you are in book club as well! @NCHPedsReads #FebPedsReads 4y

I would use this book in my future classroom because children would engage with the sassy character that is their own age, and going through struggles that they may relate to also.
