Wild Bird | Wendelin Van Draanen
Pickpick

Wren, a teenager that has been taken to the desert so that she can learn how to handle her emotions. Wren struggles to make a fire so that she can move up from rabbit so that she can be with the other girls. Wild Bird is slow at first but picks up the pace as you get further into the book. I recommend this book to people who like suspense, mystery and adventure.

MissYaremcio Great work C.C.! Just remember to add a picture next time! 6d
cclyon_13 @MissYaremcio thank you. I forgot my book at school so I couldn‘t 6d

Another good YA book.
“While I was in therapy, I thought that I was doing all that shit because I wanted to damage myself, but now I think it was chasing bliss. All those mock-highs I chased. It turns out the bliss I was looking for existed in books, coffee shops and pecan pie.” 📚

Wild bird is about the main character, Wren. And how she survives in the dessert. She gets sent to a camp by her parents to help with her behaviour, hoping when she gets back it will all be better. She meets new people. Works through her problems. She learns how to survive in the dessert, how to start a fire and ect. By the end of the book you can really see how she's changed.

I loved reading about wrens journey and would recommend reading it.

MissYaremcio I love your summary of the book Anabelle! You really nailed what the story is about! Make sure that when you are doing the Litsy assignments that you are including all elements of the assignment (you were missing the picture and the tone)! 1mo

Mehso-so

This book is about Wren who gets taken away from her parents and is forced to go to the desert with a group of people called the coyotes. They have limited resources and have to preserve their rations for several weeks. Everyone has their own job to do throughout the day. This book deals with struggles every teenager would face. If you like adventure books, you will probably enjoy this piece. (I haven't finished the book yet)

MissYaremcio Great review Tak! Another book I think I shall read! I see now how you had formatted this, thanks for the heads up in class! 1mo
MrsBabki I loved this book and was speechless when I found out what she did to get sent away. 1mo

I‘ve not read the book but know the summary of it, interesting. Despite the controversy of this ‘memoir‘, the book has been adapted into a movie. Read about it and see the trailer here: https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/08/a-million-little-pieces-trailer-pos...

Amor4Libros I didn‘t know this was being made into a movie, looks good! I remember when Oprah praised this book so much that a friend and I read it and were blown away. I read it again a few years ago, it‘s that good. I‘ll definetely watch the movie 3mo
BoleyBooks This was the only book I ever returned to the store. I could not get into the stream of consciousness format. 3mo
Eggs I‘ve always wondered about this one...I vaguely remember the controversy. Nice choice! 3mo

marleed I read this book just prior to the interview and was deeply impacted. Then the interview, then the controversy. It‘s seems so odd now that I was so saddened by the aftermath . It has changed how I read memoirs. In his defense, when he wrote the book he didn‘t set out to call it a memoir nor could he anticipate it would get that attention. Even still, I read differently. 3mo
DivineDiana @marleed I too read it before the controversy. Unsettling. 🙁 3mo
marleed @DivineDiana I took the controversy so personally which seems so silly now. Upon reflection, much much later, I feel sorry for the author because he was caught up in a publishing world he was no way prepared for. Actually, the aftermath might make a great movie! 3mo
