These are my planned reads for September. Most of these are for the Metallic ColorCAT at #LibraryThing. I'll be reading the tagged book first. The Bradbury is a re-read of one of my favorites for the RandomCAT at #LibraryThing. I share a birthday with Ray Bradbury. The Simic is my #PoetryChallenge pick for this month.

Kristelh Hope to read Spinning Silver for #colorcat 1y
VioletBramble @Kristalh Spinning Silver seems to be the most popular title so far for that CAT. 1y

My August TBR pile. Candide is for the ColorCAT at #LibraryThing. The Bukowski is for the #PoetryChallenge. The rest of the month is catch-up time as I started three of these books for other challenges and never finished them. Hoping to start September fresh.

Last week's book haul. I'm planning to read the Novik in September for the Metallic ColorCAT at #LibraryThing. I'll read the Simic later in the year for the #PoetryChallenge. The others will live on the TBR shelves for awhile.

The Fix | Lisa Wells
post image
Mehso-so

The Fix is a collection of poetry from Lisa Wells, which won the 2017 Iowa Poetry Prize. Wells‘s word choice is casual but her style is abstract. This makes understanding her poems a bit difficult and I sometimes had trouble following a train of thought from one stanza to another. Overall, her poetry left me with a raw enjoyment of the art but a loss on conclusions about each poem and what she might be trying to convey. #netgalley #poetrychallenge

Some of these poems are hard to follow, but I‘m still reading it in bits and finding interesting lines. Read for a short while this morning! #poetrychallenge

“I am not resigned to the shutting away of loving hearts in the hard ground.
So it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind:
Into the darkness they go, the wise and the lovely.  Crowned
With lilies and with laurel they go; but I am not resigned.”

I‘m enjoying exploring this poet‘s work! #poetrychallenge @Natasha.C.Barnes

I forgot to post my reading journal lists to show how much progress I made in January! I have a separate little book where I just record the books I‘ve read each month—18 in January: 11 graphic novels, 4 audiobooks, 3 print, all for public challenges and personal goals! #poetrychallenge #seriescatchup #readaroundtheworld #ireland #iceland #canada #LitsyAtoZ #nonfiction2018 #litsyreadingchallenge #IdRatherBeReading #ReadHarder #netgalley

Natasha.C.Barnes Fantastic! 2y

readinginthedark @Natasha.C.Barnes @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thanks! I‘m trying to be better about keeping track than I was last year. 2y

I finally traded in all the gift cards I received at Solstice/Christmas for books. This is my book haul. It includes a couple of titles I may add to the #poetrychallenge.
