#SpringEquinox

I missed that we were doing #FridayNightShare again! For yesterday‘s #SpringNonFiction prompt, I‘m choosing the book. I think of spring as a time to clean & freshen up. I have had this book on my shelves for ages & still use many of her green cleaning tips & recipes including her Lavender-Lemon Disinfecting Spirits Spray & her essential oil combo list. 💚🌱🪻🍋💛

planting plans? when do you start planning? What are you planning?
So far my plans are “sort of” simple. I‘m going to try and grow lavender from seed using my greenhouse- so i can plant it around the fenced in part of my yard. My other plans are zinnias and Sunflowers and wildflowers. My last plan is adding 2 plum trees and an apple tree- and using farmers markets for all my fresh food needs. #natuaralitsy #litsolace #springequinox

Princess-Kingofkings I placed an order from Burpee yesterday. For the first time, I ordered a Buddleia plant. They say the butterflies love it! 🦋 1mo

This book covers a year of eating locally grown or sourced food, but I think a lot of people thought like me, Ok, but what happens in winter?!
Read if you‘re curious!

This nonfiction book from Barbara Kingsolver will open your eyes to the impact of what you choose to eat. The Kingsolver family moves from Arizona to live on a family farm in Appalachia, and decide to live for a year on locally grown and produced food (with the exception of coffee and chocolate). Daughter Camille,a biology student at Duke, adds sidebars and recipes. Even husband Stephen Hopp adds an occasional sidebar. #bookbinge #includesrecipes

My book club book for April, this memoir of a year of eating locally inspired me to go back to making my own yogurt and today I made a strawberry sauce to flavor it with after strawberries are out of season. I grew up growing our own vegetables and eating beef raised by my grandfather so I should do better about conscious food choices, and Kingsolver has given me the nudge to move in that direction. Starting with strawberry sauce in my freezer.

TEArificbooks I loved this book. I am glad there is now a company that sells those imperfect foods that used to be thrown out because they won‘t look pretty in the grocery store. Yet there are foods I would miss if we did what she did, like bananas and Ben and Jerry‘s. 13mo
Lcsmcat @TEArificbooks I don‘t know if I could give up tea and chocolate! But, even though I don‘t enjoy gardening I can sure buy more from farmers markets than grocery stores! 13mo

This book is an eye opening read about our food system and the American view of food. I think everyone should read this book. 5/5

My annual re-read of the tagged book is almost over! It reminds me of all the things that I love about the growing season. This photo is from the greenhouse in February and I can't believe how much our plants have grown since then!!
